Abstract

Device for heating a steel plate (3) before it is rolled out, laid device comprising a furnace (1) having a number of water-cooled guides (2) therein, across which the steel plate is slid during passing the steel plate through the furnace, said furnace having a heating zone (4) and a soaking zone (6), in which latter a temperature compensation occurs in the steel plate (3). In the soaking zone (6), each of the guides (2) situated in the furnace is followed by a heating element (9) having its heat supplied to substantially that part of the steel plate (3) which was previously situated above the guides (2). A control unit is present for controlling the capacity of the heating elements (9). The toll surface (16) of the covering member coincides with the surface (7) across which the plate slides.
