Abstract

A fish feed pellet, comprising cereals and fishmeal, is dipped into a solution of water and preservative before dusting with wheat gluten powder. The dusted pellet is then rolled in a centrifuge whilst hot air is circulated around the pellet to cause the gluten to form a rubbery yet permeable skin. The pellet, which may be used as bait, can dissolve inside the permeable skin thus allowing fish to smell and locate the feed contained within. However, the skin will only allow the bait to be consumed by fish large enough to swallow the pellet whole and consequently small undesired fish are prevented from consuming the pellet. The permeable skin may be injected with liquid fish feed stimulants with a hypodermic syringe and the skin may be perforated to allow the feed stimulants to be control released. The preservative is preferably monopolypropylene and more layers of skin may be applied to make the pellet more durable.

Description

SOLUBLE FOOD ENCAPSULATED IN EDIBLE PERMEABLE SKIN This invention relates to a soluble fish feed pellet that is cylindrical or spherical in shape. The feed pellet is manufactured from cereals and fishmeal. (commercially available) This is then dipped into a solution of water and preservative, (presently monopolypropylene) followed by a dusting with wheat gluten powder. The pellet is then rolled in a centrifuge whilst hot dry air is circulated around the pellet. This causes the gluten to form a rubbery yet permeable skin around the pellet. The more layers that are applied, the more durable the bait the bait will become.
(Example) Fig 1. Shows a fish feed pellet.
Fig 2. Shows a fish feed pellet with the permeable skin.

Claims (7)

  1. CLAIMS 1. The pellet will dissolve inside the permeable skin.
  2. 2. The permeable skin will allow the fish to smell the food contained within.
  3. 3. The skin will prevent small fish from consuming the bait.
  4. 4. To consume the bait, the fish must have a mouth large enough to swallow the bait whole.
  5. 5. The permeable skin can be injecte with liquid fish feed stimulants by means of a hypodermic syringe.
  6. 6. The permeable skin can be perforated to allow the feed stimulants to be control released into the water.
  7. 7. The more layers of skin applied, the longer the inner core will be protected from the attention of fish that are too small to consume the pellet whole.
