Description

GAME APPARATUS The present invention relates to apparatus for playing a game.
Companies are constantly seeking to produce games, which may also be related to popular sports. Furthermore, companies are constantly looking for new ways to promote their products. There is a constant demand for inexpensive'novelty'items which companies can give away as promotional gifts, with or without their products.
According to the present invention, there is provided apparatus for playing a game, the apparatus comprising a single piece of paper, card plastic or any inexpensive material, into which is cut aperture (s), which form the'target'or goal for a playing piece, also cut into the card, and which is put together by the user, either by folding and locking, or by pushing a number of sections together. Also in the card, is a strut, which by being locked into the base by means of'slits'cut into the material, enables the apparatus containing the'goal'or target area to stand upright.
The game may have the'goal'or target area on the upper or lower sections of the card, and if it is being related to any popular sport, say rugby or football, or American football, will be decorated appropriately, perhaps with the figure of a'goalie'in the goal-mouth. The sections pressed out by the user, may be tokens of some kind for any competition to be run with the game, or be pictures or graphics of some kind which can be collected. Also, the sections to be pressed out, may be used as the'stabilisers'to make the game stand upright.
The game is played by flicking the playing piece towards the goal area, the object being to try to get it through the goal area. The games may also be formed on a beermat An embodiment of the present invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings, which have TWO configurations, in which : FIRST configuration Fig. l is the game-card prior to deploymen by the user Fig. 2 is the obverse of the game-card Fig. 3 is a front view showing the apertures, strut and playing piece pressed out Figs 4 & 5 show the playing piece before and after construction by the user Fig. 6 shows the fully assembled game Fig. 7 shows how the playing piece is'flicked'with finger Fig. 8 shows how the game is played SECOND configuration Fig. 9 shows the front of the game-card Fig. 10 shows the obverse Fig. 11 shows the front with the aperture and playing piece pressed out Fig. 12 shows the assembled game Figs 13 & 14 show the construction of the playing piece Fig. 15 show how the game is played FIRST Configuration, which may be related to football.
Fig. 1 shows the front of the game-card 1 prior to assembly by the user. It consists of a target or'goal'area 2, which has a slit 10 cut into the centre of it's base; a section 7, containing a playing piece 9, and at the base, a strut 8, with a slit 11 cut into it's base. Fig. 2 shows the back of the card, and Fig. 3 shows the game-card 1 with all sections 1,7,8 detached along perforations'A-A'and'B-B', and the press out sections 4,3,9, removed, leaving apertures 5, 6 as the'goal'or target. Figs. 4 & 5, show how the playing piece 9, is constructed by folding three section 12,13,14 along fold-lines'C-C and'D-D', and locking tab 16 into slit 17 located on projection 15. Fig. 6 shows the gamecard 2, with the base strut 8 locked into the base of the goal-card 2, by inserting the slit 11 on the base 8, into the slit 10 on the goal-card 2 Fig. 7 shows how the playing piece 9 is'flicked'with the finger, and Fig 8 shows how the game is played.
SECOND Configuration, which may be related to rugby-football or American football.
Fig. 9 shows the front of the game-card 18 prior to deployment by the user. Fig. 10 shows the obverse. Fig 11 shows the front of the game-card 18 with all sections 19,21,22 pressed out.
Fig 12 shows the assembled game-card 18, with the pressed out section 19 used to lock into the slit'H-H'on the base, by the slit'E-E'on the top, enabling the game-card 18 to stand upright. When the section 19 is pressed out, it leaves an aperture 23 which may be utilised as the'goal'or target. Figs. 13 & 14 show how the playing piece 20 is assembled by the user from pressed out sections 21 & 22, by pushing together the two slits'F-F & 'H-H'.
Fig 15 shows how the game is played, the playing piece 20, being'flicked'with the thumb and finger towards'goal'aperture 23 on the game-card 18. The object of the game is to get the playing piece 20 through the'goal'aperture 23.
