Reducing fibrous material.-In a process for powdering fibrous mortars prior to their setting, the mortar is compressed into blocks or places so as to remove all excess water, and the agglomerated mortar is submitted to a grinding action by means of an emery or carborundum wheel or mill revolving at a high speed and adapted to reduce the mortar to a moist powder. The grinding or powdering means may be used to project the mortar on to the surface to which it is to be applied. Cylinders with file or rasp like surfaces, steel brushes, or circular saws set at an inclination to their axis of rotation mav be used instead of a grindstone or emery wheel.
