Abstract
A low voltage fan 1 and an isolation transformer 9 are encased within a fan ventilator housing or plenum chamber 6 having an air intake 7 and air exhaust 8. The transformer 9 is further housed within a water resistant box 9 which has means for connecting and sealing a power supply cable. The power supply to the transformer 9 is at 240V, the transformer supplying power to the fan at 12V. A fan override timer may be provided. The device may be used to displace air in wet or hazardous areas such as bath and shower rooms.
Description
2340548 Safetv Fan This invention relates to ventilation apparatus for use
in wet areas that remove or displace air in a building or room space and to an integral isolation transformer for such apparatus.
In efforts to ensure safe conditions within buildings, designers have increasingly made provision in new and existing buildings to introduce Safe Extra Low Voltage (isolated 12v). In particular with the use of ventilators in wet conditions such as bath and showers rooms or hazardous areas.
However, in domestic dwellings in particular, the requirement to locate a remote transformer is both time consuming to the installer and wasteful in the requirement to run extra wiring to the transformer and then to the ventilator device.
It is the object of this invention to provide Safe Extra Low Voltage to the ventilator with an integral Isolation transformer that is encased within the fan ventilator housing. The Isolation transformer having its own water proof housing that accepts and seals the incoming high voltage power supply (240v).
The safety fan apparatus in accordance with the present invention is characterised by a 12v fan powered from a full isolation transformer (240v to 12V), and a water resistant box within the plenum chamber containing the fan. Means of connecting external power supply and sealing the power supply cable are contained within the water resistant box housing the transformer.
A safety fan apparatus in accordance with the present invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:

Claims (4)
1. A device counting a Safe Extra Low Voltage fan integral with a Full isolation transformer.
2. A device according to claim 1 that has the full isolation transformer contained within a water resistant housing.
3. A device according to claim 1 and 2 that contain the fan and isolation transformer within a common plenum chamber.
4. A device according to claim 1,2 and 3 that contain a fan and fan override timer, the trigger for the timer being isolated within the water resistant housing.
