Description
2339898 "Cooker hob cover plate" This invention relates to a cooker hob
cover plate for a glass-ceramic cooker hob, the overall measurements of which correspond to the dimensions of the glass-ceramic cooker hob.
Glass-ceramic cooker hobs are very widely used. They are relatively sensitive and have to be carefully looked after. Therefore, covering a glass ceramic cooker hob by an all-over cooker hob cover plate when not in use has already become a known measure. A cooker hob cover plate such as this can be a folding cover, but can also be a separate plate which is placed thereon.
However, the size of the latter makes it somewhat inconvenient to store when not in use.
Moreover, the cooker hob cover plates which have hitherto been known in practice can only be placed on a glass-ceramic cooker hob when the latter has cooled, and cannot be used otherwise.
A basic object of the present invention is therefore to improve the cooker hob cover plate which is known in practice for a glass-ceramic cooker hob with regard to its universal usability.
According to the present invention, there is provided a cooker hob cover plate for a glassceramic cooker hob, the overall measurements of which correspond to the dimensions of the glass-ceramic cooker hob, wherein the cooker hob cover plate consists of a plurality of, preferably of just two, separate partial cover plates, the overall measurements of which add up to the dimensions of the glass-ceramic cooker hob. 20 As a rule, two partial cover plates on the surface of a glass-ceramic cooker hob have proved to be particularly advantageous. However, it is also quite possible for there to be three partial cover 2 plates, particularly for wider g lass-ceramic cooker hobs (90 cm hobs) - It is first of all essential that the area of the partial cover plates takes up considerably less space than a continuous cooker hob cover plate; namely they can be stacked one upon another for storage. Moreover, it is of benefit that one of the partial cover plates, or even two partial cover plates if there are more than two partial cover plates, can rest on the glass-ceramic cooker hob, and one of the partial cover plates at the side thereof can be used as a work surface. At the same time, there is a strip of the glass-ceramic cooker hob which is free, so that a cooking pot can stand on a corresponding cooking area. The flexibility of use of these partial cover plates for a glass-ceramic cooker hob is considerably greater than that of the all-over cooker hob cover plates which were known hitherto.
Preferred designs and further developments of the cooker hob cover plate according to the invention form the subject matter of the subsidiary claims.
The invention is explained in greater detail below with reference to the drawings, which merely constitute schematic illustrations of examples of embodiments, and where:
Figure I shows a first embodiment comprising two partial cover plates, which are of equal size, of a cooker hob cover plate on a glass-ceramic cooker hob; Figure 2 shows a further embodiment comprising partial cover plates of unequal size; and Figure 3 is an enlarged, perspective view of a partial cover plate.
3 The embodiment which is illustrated in Figure 1 firstly shows a cooker hob cover plate for a glass-ceramic cooker hob 1 which is let into a kitchen work surface 6 in the known manner. On the glass-ceramic cooker hob there is a cooker hob cover plate, the overall measurements of which correspond to the dimensions of the glass-ceramic cooker hob. According to the teaching of the present invention, the cooker hob cover plate is composed of a plurality of partial cover plates 2, 3. The embodiment illustrated, which is a preferred embodiment, comprises two separate partial cover plates 2, 3, the overall measurements of which add up to the dimensions of the glass-ceramic cooker hob 1. On a wider glass-ceramic cooker hob 1, for example a glass ceramic cooker hob with a width of 90 cm, three partial cover plates 2, 3 can also be disposed side by side without difficulty. In principle, a larger number of partial cover plates 2, 3 is also possible, but this is perhaps not as practical.
The essential advantages of partial cover plates 2, 3, the overall measurements of which add up to the dimensions of the glass-ceramic cooker hob 1, compared with a single, continuous cooker hob cover plate, have already been explained in the general part of this description. They are taken up again below with reference to the examples.
The embodiment illustrated in Figure 1 comprises two separate partial cover plates 2, 3, which have the same overall measurements. These two partial cover plates 2, 3 can be stacked particularly well. In the embodiment illustrated they also cover the glass-ceramic cooker hob 1 in an advantageous manner.
The embodiment illustrated in Figure 2 comprises an alternative having two partial cover plates 4 2, 3 which do not have the same overall measurements.
A common feature of both these preferred embodiments is that the length of the partial cover plates 2, 3 corresponds to the depth of the glass-ceramic cooker hob 1. In the first case, the width of the partial cover plates 2, 3 corresponds to approximately half the width of the glass-ceramic cooker hob 1. In the second embodiment shown in Figure 2, the widths are different, namely they are matched to the diameters of the cooking areas 5 of the glass- ceramic cooker hob 1 which are disposed side by side.
Other advantages of the invention can be explained particularly well with reference to the embodiment illustrated in Figure 2. It can be seen that two cooking areas 5, which are disposed one behind the other, of the glass-ceramic cooker hob 1 are freely accessible. This region can therefore be used for cooking, and a corresponding cooking pot 7 is indicated. At the same time, the remaining region of the glass-ceramic cooker hob I can be covered by a partial cover plate 2, and is therefore protected. This partial cover plate 2 serves as a depository beside the cooking pot 7, as a working surface near the cooking pot 7 for instance. At the same time, the other partial cover plate 3, which is indicated on the right on the work surface 6 beside the glass- ceramic cooker hob 1, can again be used as a depository. The work surface at the side of the glass-ceramic cooker hob can thus be protected particularly well, which is advantageous for wooden work surfaces 6.
The embodiments illustrated show that the partial cover plates 2, 3 are provided with spacer feet 4. This can be seen particularly clearly in Figure 3.
It is particularly advantageous if the partial cover plates 2, 3 consist of break-proof glass. This can be clear glass, or can be provided with a decoration. Partial cover plates 2, 3 made of break proof, hard, scratch-resistant, heat-resistant glass fulfil all the requirements of handling and hygiene in the kitchen. They are suitable for the placement of hot pots and pans, and their scratch-resistant and pore-free surface prevents the accumulation of bacteria and the formation of odours. The partial cover plates 2, 3 are easy to clean and form an outstanding base for use as a work surface. The glass-ceramic cooker hob I is protected without problems by the spacer feet 4, even if it is not completely clean in the corresponding region. Because a slight spacing is maintained between the partial cover plate 2, 3 and the glass-ceramic cooker hob 1 by means of the spacer feet 4, which should preferably be of non-slip design, the occurrence of abrasion effects and abrasion marks is prevented.
One particular advantage of the partial cover plates 2, 3 of the glassceramic cooker hob 1 is that they can be washed without problems in a dishwasher on account of their reduced dimensions.
In principle, materials other than break-proof glass are also suitable for the production of corresponding partial cover plates 2, 3 for a glass-ceran-lic cooker hob 1. Heat-resistant laminates or moulded plastics are particularly suitable in this respect.
