Description

2339167 SHQRI TITLE: COMBINATION SAW, Improvements in or relating to hand
saws and levelling, vertical, horizontal and angle finding.
A known problem facing Craftsmen, DIY Enthusiasts, Builders or Tradesmen, is the amount of equipment needed to be carried or stored, to carry out there jobs. some of this equipment, I. E. spirit level and angle finder is occassional tooling. But at the same time, always needs to be at hand. By the fact that the spirit level and angle finder is occasional tooling, these pieces of equipment frequently become misplaced.
The present invention, aims to address the above mentioned problem. By combining the two separate families together. I. E. Hand - Saw, SpiritBubble, with angle finding capabilities. With this innovative step, the amount of tooling to be carried, or stored is reduced, and at the same time by sighting the spirit bubble upon the Hand- Saw, which in turn makes the Hand-Saw a due[ purpose tool.
First a Hand-Saw that is a mainstream tool, with level and angle finding capabilities that is always at hand, without any inconvenience to the user.
According to one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a (9) Hand- Saw.
1)Sawblade with a straight back edge.
2) A handle with the top edge, in line with the back edge of the saw blade ( 1) Thus making the back edge of the saw blade ( 1) and the top edge of the handle ( 2) A level plane.
( 3) A spirit bubble incorporated into the saw handle, which can be viewed from both sides of the handle.
( 4) Angle finder set around the spirit bubble ( 3) with adjustments that can be pre-set in one degree increments, from zero up to 180 degrees, in either direction of the pre-set mark ( 5) ( 5) Mark pre-set on handle.
The mark ( 5) The zero mark on the angle finder ( 4) and the spirit bubble ( 3 calibrated to the horizontal. Which in turn is calibrated to the back edge of the saw-blade ( 1) and handle ( 2) This in turn makes the back edge of the saw- blade ( 1) and the top edge of the saw handle (2) A LEVEL AND ANGLE FINDING PLANE.
The Combined level saw can be used as a standard saw for the cutting of many materials in the construction Industry with the added feature of levelling and angle finding capabilities.
Area of use One area of use would be the roofing industry, as in this industry they use angles quite frequently in the pitch of the roofs that they are erecting.
When erecting a roof you would work to a set angle for the pitch of the roof, thus the need for an angle finding tool to set the pitch of the roof- once the angle is set you would then need to cut of excess material at the faschia point sing the angle finder and then using the saw to cut the material.
Thus the combined level saw can do both angle and level finding, then the cutting operation of the material where the angle or level is set.

Claims (1)

  1. Claims for Combination Saw.
    Claim I (1) A saw blade (1) saw handle (2) spirit bubble (3). A spirit bubble (3) set in saw handle (2), in such a position as not to be on the extremities of saw handle (2) to be in a more central position of saw handle (2) thus placed to give more protection to spirit bubble (3).
    Claim 2 (2) Spirit bubble (3) set between two securing plates (10) to hold spirit bubble (3) in position. The position of spirit bubble (3) shall be so positioned as to be calibrated to align with top of saw handle (2).
    Claim 3 Thus making saw handle (2) the means of levelling. Saw blade (1) shall be an extension only of saw handle(2) and spirit bubble (3) and the caliberation of this combination.
    Claim 4 Retaining plate (10) shall have a copy on reverse side of saw handle (2) equally spaced so as to fit spirit bubble (3) and angle finding body (4) between retaining plates. retaining plates and angle finder body shall be so grooved, as to allow angle fmder body(4) and spirit bubble (3) to rotate 360 degrees between plates (10).
    Claim 5 Angle fmder body (4) shall be marked in increments of degrees through to 360 degrees, which in turn will be calibrated to align to fixed marker (5) which in turn will calibrate with spirit bubble (3) and top plane of saw handle (2), thus making saw handle (2) a vertical, horizontal, angle fmder and angle setter.
    Claim 6 Studs (6) shall be as pillars to fix equal distance between securing plates (10). Stud (7) shall be lock and release mechanism to hold angle finder body (4) and spirit bubble (3) in lock position at desired degree or release position to rotate.
    Claim 7 Saw blade retaining screws (8) to enable the fitting of differant types of saw blade. Also to refit new blades, thus retaining saw handle (2).
