Description
2339150 REFERENCE 2 "CHALLENGE" RULES:
AIM OF THE GAME:
The aim of the game is to be the first to accumulate 100 points, 25 points per level, by answering questions of varying points value and difficulty. These are obtained by moving around the board by the throw of a dice through each of the four colour band levels then returning to the centre with a minimum of 100 points to win.
THE BOARD:
1. The board is divided into four colour bands with a fifth outer band for scoring.
2. The game can be played by two to six individuals or teams.
3. Each player selects a pair of markers, one to move around the board to. gain points and the other to mark the score on the outer band. Play begins at the centre, with the highest score of the dice starting first. Each player then has one throw of the dice followed by a question, clockwise around the board.
4. Each player enters the first level through the gate and may move in either direction the number of points shown on the dice.
5. The player stays at this colour band level until a minimum of 25 points have been accrued. This then allows the player to advance to the next level via the gate by the throw of the dice but without the need to answer questions. This is repeated until they reach the fourth level and have gathered 100 points or more. I f a person loses points and their score falls below the minimum required for the band level they are on, they do not need to go back to the previous level to re-gain the points.
6. When a player throws the dice they move the number of squares shown. They are then asked a question from the deck.
The player scores points by answering the questions correctly and earning the points shown on the card.
GAMBLE: If a player lands o n a 'Gamble' square denoted by the letter 'G', before being given the question, they can choose to gamble their score. If they answer the question correctly the points gained are double that shown on the card. If they are not correct, they lose double the points. If they chose not to Gamble, the question is at asked at face value.
9. CHALLENGE: When a player lands on the 'Challenge' symbol denoted by the letter 'C', before being given the question, they may challenge another opponent to answer it or answer themselves for the value shown. If the person challenged is Z> successful they will receive double the points value shown on the question card, but if unsuccessful they will lose double the points.
10. FREE: When a player lands on the 'Free' symbol denoted by the letter 'F', they are allowed to answer an extra question, whether the first one is answered correctly or not.
QUESTIONS:
The questions are divided into four categories, Fact or Fiction, Leaders, Achievement and Music. Each question has its own points value shown from 3 - 6 points, depending on the difficulty of the question.
SCOR1NG:
As each pla er successfully answers the questions their points value is indicated by moving their scoring counter on the outer colour band starting at zero. The marker is moved around the board collecting or losing points, until 100 points are accrued. The player then has to return back to the centre via the gates using the most direct route, moving by the throw of the dice without answering questions.
The player must keep the 100 points gained on the four colour bands intact until they return to the centre. This is when an opponent may choose to use the 'Challenge' option to take away points and prevent the player heading back to the centre. Should the player with the 100 points be successfully challenged and lose points, they must regain them if they drop below 100 before entering the centre colour band to win the game. Any player who loses points from the 100 through a Challenge can regain them at any level and does not have to return to the outer band.
