Abstract
233,786. Bamber, A. K. Feb. 15, 1924. Continuous paving and flooring.-A porous and resilient paving for tennis and like sports grounds, consists of an uppermost layer of plastic material formed by heating together resin, boiled linseed oil, dissolved rubber, and colouring matter preferably green, and mixing the solution with heated aggregate such as graded sand, iron slag, or other material. As an example, the solution mav consist of ¥ to 3 parts by volume of powdered resin, 1 part boiled linseed oil, 1 part of dissolved rubber, and 1 part of colouring matter, this amount of solution being mixed with 30 parts of dry sand or 25 parts of honeycombed iron slag graded between 1-32 and 3-32 inch. The paving is laid, rolled, and smoothed while hot. The foundation may consist of porous breeze concrete or preferably tarred iron slag or coarse stone, the larger voids being filled with tarred macadam or like substance. The ground is first prepared by rolling in coarse flints, broken stone, or brick. Reinforcements mav be added if desired, in the paving. For white markings, a solution as described above is mixed with marble dust, calcined flint, or limestone.
