Abstract

233,772. Dickinson, F. W. Feb. 14, 1924. Kinematograph films of the kind described in Specification 198,815, having a central rank of images 1 and side ranks of narrower images 2, are provided with one row of perforations 5 in each of the running spaces 3 between the ranks of images; printing apparatus for such films is provided with three printing apertures. The width of the side images is preferably from one-half to three-quarters of the width of the central images. The side images have a different field of view from the central images, consisting if desired of sub-titles or dialogue. Marginal running spaces 4 may be provided, and any rank of images may be discontinued where desired, the image spaces being darkened. Fig. 5 shows the gate 11 of a camera hinged at 12 and provided with three apertures 13, 14 and pressure guide-pieces 15. Guidepieces 16 are provided to cause the parts of the film bearing the side images to be out of line with the central part and to face the outer lenses of the camera, the axes of the outer lenses being at a fixed or adjustable angle to the axis of the centre lens. The gate may be formed in three parts hinged together for adjustment.
