Abstract

A remote control unit 5 for a television, video or Hi-Fi music centre is powered by rechargeable battery cells and can be recharged by placing the unit 5 in a charger. The charger has a light which indicates that a connection has been made between the charger and the remote control unit and that recharge is in progress. The charger is powered from a transformer which may be already located in the television, video or music centre. The charger unit may be incorporated in, or sited against, the television, video or music centre (Figs. 8,9). The remote control unit 5 may be powered by solar cells.

Description

i 1 2337378 This invention relates to a Remote Control Unit.
INTRODUCTION
Most Televisions, Video and Fli-fi music centres are today sold with the benefit of a hand held Remote control unit. This allows the functions of the centres to be operated from different are&s of a room, rather than having to operate the centre directly from the unit itself. This benefits the user as they do not have to get up from an Armchair for example to turn the Television sides over or adjust volume controls.
All of these hand held Remote Control units are operated from conventional batteries which within a given period of time 'die'. This means that Remote Control unit will appear not to function properly and the batteries will need replacing. The new presented invention does away with these batteries and is recharged from the Television,Video or Hi-fi music centre.
The invention will now be herein called a "Rechargeable Remote Control UniC.
DESCRIPTION
A specific example of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Referring to the drawing figure 8 &9, the "Rechargeable Remote Control UniC can be sited either within or against the Television,Video or Hi-fi music centre which will herein be called the "Rechargeable Remote Control Units Horne".
The "Rechargeable Remote Control Units home" recharges the "Rechargeable Remote Control UniC when the unit is placed into the "home" figures 3 & 4. The "Rechargeable Remote Control UniC is powered using rechargeable Nickel Hydnide cells which replace the use of the conventional battery. The "Rechargeable Remote Control UniC then terminates externally 2 terminals, 1 Positive and 1 Negative figures 1 & 2.
The "home" is electrically powered using a Mains Transformer to a set required voltage either within or as an additional feature; figure 3 no.S. This in turn is connected to the circuitry shown in figure 5 no.4 which then results with a positive and negative terminal from either the circuity or the transformer; figure 5 no.3.
When the "Rechargeable Remote Control Unit" is place in the "Rechargeable Remote Control Units home" the positive and negative terminals from each device are connected to there respective terminals; figure 3 no.6. This visibly shows by a light that illuminates on the "Rechargeable Remote Control Units home" to show that a connection has been made and that the recharge is in progress.
