Abstract

A cylinder outer body 1 and inner plug core 2 that are locked together against relative axial movement during rotation by the key 7, by means of the key retaining lug 8 locating in the outer body retaining recess 9.

Description

Cylinder Lock Key Locking Into Cylinder Body And Plug Core.
Description This invention relates to a key and cylinder body, which engage into each other during the keys 360 degree rotation.
A traditional cylinder lock comprises of a core plug containing a set number of bottom pins and profile for a key to enter. The outer body which houses the core has a set number of drivers, and a circlip to retain the core into the outer body during the rotation of the key.
When the core plug rotates most cylinder locks rely on the circlip to retain the core plug into the outer body. When in rotation any attempt to remove the key in the wrong exit position can eventually break or disengage the circlip allowing the core to retract with the key. When the key is removed the core is retained by the driver pins and circlip.
According to the present invention there is provided a key, which locks the cylinder body to the core through-out its complete turning cycle, independent of any of the other lock components.

Claims (4)

  1. Claims 1. A key which secures the plug core to the body during rotation, independently of the retaining circlip.
  2. 2. A key as claimed in claim 1 where in it can not retract other than when it is aligned with the retaining recess access slot.
  3. 3. A key as claimed in claim I or claim 2 which alleviates tension on the retaining circlip.
  4. 4. A key as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 or claim 3 which allows unusual combinations of cuts to be used as it does not rely on the bottom pins to retain its cycle of rotation.
