Abstract

A child's cot has a drop-side 14 which can be stowed horizontally under the cot, the cot also has a removable mattress supporting panel 15 supported between the ends of the cot and a drawer located beneath the panel. Access to the drawer is still available when the drop-side is in its stowed position underneath the drawer.

Description

A COT The present invention relates to a cot. More particularly, the present invention relates to a cot of the type having at least one movable side which is vertically displaceable.

One purpose of the present invention is to provide a child's cot of the abovementioned type having a mattress support which comprises a panel, below which is provided at least one drawer which opens out onto the same side as the movable side.

Another purpose of the present invention is to provide a cot of simplified structure in which two transverse members are provided which support the mattress supporting panel and the drawer located beneath the mattress supporting panel.

The panel can be removed at any time and advantageously, the drawer can be opened when the movable side is in a raised and lowered and stowed position, that is, where there is provision for storing the movable side beneath the cot.

According to the present invention there is provided a cot including a frame having four corner uprights, a mattress support, two ends and two sides, at least one of the sides being vertically displaceable characterised in that the mattress support comprises a removable panel which is supportable on longitudinal members located between the corner uprights parallel to the sides and on transverse members located between the corner uprights parallel to the ends.

In a further aspect of the present invention there is provided a cot including a frame having four corner uprights, a mattress support, two ends and two sides, at least one of the sides can be positioned at different heights along the uprights and which may be stowed horizontally beneath the mattress support, in which for guiding and positioning the movable side each upright is provided with a vertical groove with positioning holes, and where for horizontal stowing of the said movable side, where provided, horizontal grooves are provided at the base of the ends between the corner uprights, characterised in that the mattress support comprises a removable panel which is supportable on longitudinal members between the corner uprights parallel to the sides and on transverse members between the corner uprights parallel to the ends.

In a further aspect of the present invention there is provided a cot characterised in that the cot includes a mattress support comprising a panel and a drawer which is slideably located below the panel.

One, non-limiting, embodiment of the present invention will now be described by way of example to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 is a perspective view of a cot in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention; Figure 2 illustrates the cot of Figure 1 with the movable side being stowed away; Figure 3 illustrates the cot of Figure 1 without the mattress supporting panel, with the movable side stowed horizontally and the drawer partly opened; Figure 4 illustrates the cot of Figure 1 with the mattress supporting panel, the movable side stowed beneath the cot and the drawer opened; Figure 5 is a side view of the cot of Figure 1 in partial cross-section; Figure 6 is a cross-sectional view of one end of the cot of Figure 1; and Figure 7 is a cross-sectional view of a corner of the cot of Figure 1.

As illustrated, a cot in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention includes a frame 11 having four corner uprights 12, two ends 13, which are usually fixed, and two sides 14, 14'. Preferably, at least one of such sides 14, is vertically displaceable along guides 12' provided on the uprights 12 adjacent thereto. Furthermore, such moveable side 14 can be stowed away horizontally beneath the cot.

A mattress support includes a removable panel 15 fitted between ends 13 and sides 14,14' of the cot. Such panel 15 rests on longitudinal members 16 secured or attached between the corner uprights 12, at the base of sides 14, 14' and on transverse members 17, again secured or attached between the corner uprights 12, at the base of ends 13.

Below such panel 15 there is provided a drawer 18, which can be opened from the same side as the movable and stowable side 14. Drawer 18 has lateral guide members 19 received by guide grooves provided on the transverse members 17, on which the panel 15 is supported.

Movable and stowable side 14, can be stowed horizontally between the ends beneath the drawer 18, such that the drawer 18 can be opened when movable side 14 is in the vertically raised position and also when same is stowed horizontally beneath the cot.

To guide such a movable side 14, each corner upright 12 is provided with a vertical groove 12' in which runs a projection or guide member 14a, fixed to the side 14 itself.

Horizontal guide grooves 20 are provided on the lower, inner part, of ends 13, or on transverse members 17 fixed between the corner uprights 12, such that the movable and stowable side 14 can be stowed beneath the cot, or under drawer 18. To position the movable side 14 vertically, same is provided with bolts 21, which engage with guide groove 12', provided along uprights 12, and with positioning holes, and which can be released from the said grooves 12' to stow the movable side 14 horizontally beneath the drawer 18.

Finally, it should be noted that the panel 15 and the bottom drawer 18 can also be provided in cots with a moveable side which can be moved up and down, but which cannot be stowed away horizontally.

Claims

CLAIMS 1. A cot including a frame having four corner uprights, a mattress support, two ends and two sides, at least one of the sides being vertically displaceable characterised in that the mattress support comprises a removable panel which is supportable on longitudinal members located between the corner uprights parallel to the sides and on transverse members located between the corner uprights parallel to the ends.
2. A cot as claimed in claim 1, wherein at least one drawer is provided below the removable panel which can be opened horizontally from the side of the movable side.
3. A cot as claimed in claim 2, wherein the drawer is mounted and guided along the cross-members on which the mattress supporting panel is supported.
4. A cot as claimed in claim 1, 2 or 3, wherein the moveable side is stowable beneath the drawer.

A cot including a frame having four corner uprights, a mattress support, two ends and two sides, at least one of the sides can be positioned at different heights along the uprights and which may be stowed horizontally beneath the mattress support, in which for guiding and positioning the movable side each upright is provided with a vertical groove with positioning holes, and where for horizontal stowing of the said movable side, where provided, horizontal grooves are provided at the base of the ends between the corner uprights, characterised in that the mattress support comprises a removable panel which is supportable on longitudinal members between the corner uprights parallel to the sides and on transverse members between the corner uprights parallel to the ends.
6. A cot as claimed in claim 5, wherein at least one drawer is provided below the removable panel which can be opened horizontally from the side of the movable side when the moveable side is in both the vertical position and in the horizontally stowed position.b
7. A cot as claimed in claim 6, wherein the drawer is mounted and guided along the transverse members on which the mattress supporting panel is supported.
8. A cot as claimed in claim 6 or 7, wherein the moveable side is stowable beneath the drawer.
9 A cot characterised in that the cot includes a mattress support comprising a panel and a drawer which is slideably located below the panel.
10. A cot as claimed in claim 9, wherein the panel is removable.
11. A cot substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
