Abstract

A lockable parcel box 10 is secured to a wall; the keyed latching lid 10a is left unlocked; once a delivery has been made the person pushes the lid down to lock the box; the indicator in the sightglass 11 shows the box is locked. The box is opened by means of a key in lock 12.

Description

- I- 2331552 LOCKABLE PARCEL BOX (LPB) This invention relates to a
lockable parcel box (LPB) A mail box comprises of a metal box secured to the wall or floor of a building, with a slot for any mail and it has a keyed lock mechanism for collection.
The mail box is, however, restricted to flat items such as letters and very small packages, it does not allow for larger parcels and packag ges which are left unsecure or returned by the delivery company. The LPB allows for larger items to be left by the delivery company in a secure box without having a key. Family and friends can gain access to the LPB whilst the owners are away by means of a spare key allowing a secure 1 alarmed house to be undisturbed.
According to the present invention there is provided a Lockable Parcel Box comprising a body in 0 the form of a box, means for securing the body to the wall Or floor of a budding, a strengthened hinged lid, a keyed latching lock mechanism, a indicator and sightglass.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: - Figure 1 shows in perspective, the Lockable Parcel Box secured to the wall of a building- Figure 2 shows the box's lid, latching lock and indicator mechanism; Referring to the drawing the Lockable Parcel Box comprises a lid 10 and a body I Oa in the form of a box secured to a wall by, for example, a bolt or similar means (not shown). The lid is left unlatched, once a package or parcel is left, the lid is pushed firmly down on the latching I mechanism 14. To confirm the lid is shut the indicator bar D 3 shows in the sight glass 11. The parcel is retrieved by unlocking the lock mechanism 12.
1. A Lockable Parcel Box (LPB) comprising of a body in the form of a box, a hinged lid, a indicator marker, a sight glass to the front of the box, a latching mechanism to lock the fid shut and a key lock mechanism to unlock the latched Ed.
2. A LPB as in claim 1 wherein the body is provided with at least one hinged lid.
3. A LPB as in claim 1 and 2 wherein there is at least one keyed latching mechanism to lock the box.
4. A LPB as in any of the proceeding claims wherein the body can be of any size.
13 Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows 1. A Lockable Parcel Box (LPB) comprising of a body in the form of a box, a hinged lid, a indicator marker, a sight glass to the front of the box, a latching mechanism to lock the lid shut and a key lock mechanism to unlock the attatched lid, the arrangement being such that the confirmation of the lid being shut is provided by the indicator marker being visible through the sight glass 2, A LPB as in claim 1 wherein the body is provided with at least one hinged lid.
3. A LPB as in claim 1 and 2 wherein there is at least one keyed latching mechanism to lock the box.
4. A LP13 as in any of the proceeding claims wherein the body can be of any size.
