Abstract
An extending snooker rest comprises a tip 3 mounted on a shaft 2 telescopically journalled in a butt 5. The butt comprises a slot 7 through which a button 6 may cooperate with the shaft so that the rest can be held in its adjusted state.
Description
EXTENDING SNOOKER REST
This invention relates to an extending crown or "spider" snooker rest.
Crown rests or spiders, as they are commonly known, are well known pieces of snooker equipment used to facilitate striking of the cue ball over intervening balls. There are three types of rest in co=on use: - the crown rest, e::tended crown rest and the swan neck.
The limitation with these rests is the fact that being solid articles, if the number of intervening balls are too great it becomes impessible to strike the cue bell without fouling an intervening ball either with the cue or the rest.
According to the present invention there is provided a rest consisting of an inner and outer shaft of which the outer has at its rear end a handle which hereafter will be designated the butt and at its front end a pair of supporting leas. The inner shaft sits inside the butt at its rear end and has a vee at its front end set in front of the leQs on the outer shat. It is operated by means of a button which enables the in@er shaft to move forward along a milled slot in the butt.
A specific e@bodiment of the invention will now be described by way of exemple with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:-
Figure 1 shows the rest retracted in perspective.
Figure 2 shows the rest retracted in side elevation.
Figure 3 shows the rest extended in side elevation.
Referring to the drewing the rest corrises of an outer shaft 2 fitted to this are supporting legs 4 at its front end and a butt 5 with z slot 7 running along it. An inner shaft 7 which has a vee at its front end and a button attached at the rear end 6 through the slot in the butt.
To operate the rest it is placed on the snooker table and is extended, over the intervening snooker balls, by pushing fonrard the button 6. The button is then locked to prevent further movement.
No retract, the steps above are reversed.

- CLAIMS 1 An extendable crown or "spider" snocker rest comprising of an outer and inner shaft fitted into a butt at the rear end and with legs attached to the front end of the outer shaft. A vee is attacked to the front of the inner shaft which protrudes slightly in front of the legs of the outer shaft. The inner shaft e@tends al@ost to the rear end of the @utt which has a slot @milled along its length almost to each end.
- 2 An extendable crown or "spider" snooker rest as claimed in claim 1 wherein a button is affixed to the rear end of the inner shaft through the slots in the butt.
- 3 An extendable crown or "spider" snooker rest as claimed in claim I or clain 2 wherein the button is fitted with a locking mechanism to immobilize the inner shaft at any given point along the slot in the butt.
