Abstract

A dual purpose toilet/bidet has a flush pipe 1, which is fitted to the seat of an existing toilet. The water flow is controlled by means of a control tap 2. The water flow to the bidet flush pipe can be either cold or warmed. If cold, it is supplied from the bathroom cold water supply pipe only. If warmed, it is supplied from the bathroom hot and cold water supply pipes, and through a fail safe thermostatic mixing valve 3, which incorporates a temperature adjustment control knob 4, to select the temperature of the mix. The mixing valve can be isolated by means of service valves 5.

Description

DUAL PURPOSE TOILET/BIDET This invention relates to a dnsl purpose toilet/bidet.
Bidets are well known ssnitary fittings which comprise a porcelain pan and either aeparate hot and cold taps, or a single outlet mixing tap.
Bidets are, however, relatively expenslve. Moreover they are a separate sanitary fitting to the toilet, which means that they require extrs space in the bathroom. It is also necessary to move across from the toilet to the bidet.
The present invention is a method of adapting an existing toilet to function as a dual purpose toilet/bidet. There is provided a flush pipe and a means for controlling the water flow, by using a control tap.
The invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which : Figurel shows the bidet as a cold water flush, with the existing toilet and seat.
Figure 2 ahows the bidet as a warmed water flush, with the existing toilet and seat.
Figure 3 shows a block/flow diagram of the bidet as a cold water flush. figure 4 shows a block/flow diagram of the bidet as a warmed water flush.
Referring to the drawings the bidet comprises a flush pipe 1 and a control tap 2.
In the case of a warmed water flush as shown in Figures 2 and 4, a fail-safe thermostatic mixing valve 3, incorpocating filters, non-return valves, and a temperature adjustment control knob 4. Also a means of isolating the mixing valve, by using service valves 5.
The flush pipe 1 is fitted by drilling through the rear of the toilet seat and feeding it through the pre-drilled hole.
All other connections are made using suitable plumbing fittings (not shown) and copper tubing 6.
In order to operate the bidet, the control tap 2 is opened by the requisite amount, dependant on user comfort.
