Description

REMOVABLE WHEEL ARCH HOLE PLUG This invention relates to the reduction of draughts in the awning covered space of parked caravans and similar vehicles.
In order to increase the available covered space it is quite common to attach a weather proof awning to the side of caravans and similar vehicles.
Usually some attempt is made to render this extra area relatively draught proof by fitting a skirt to the caravan in such a manner as to prevent the wind from blowing under the caravan into the awning space.
However, the effectiveness of such a skirt is reduced by the wheel arch hole or holes, which because they extend above the level of the skirt, allow unimpeded ingress of the wind.
According to the present invention, there is provided a plug which seals the wheel arch hole and may additionally provide a fixture suitable for the attachment of the awning skirt.
A specific embodiment of the invention will be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing.
Figure 1. In which the wheel arch plug is shown in isometric projection. The plug 1. can fulfil two functions i.e. it seals the wheel arch hole and may additionally provide a suitable fitment 2 for fixing the awning skirt to it.
Figure 2. Shows the wheel arch plug in the demounted position and illustrates the method of fitting it into its operational position. The means by which the plug is secured into the arch is not shown.
Figure 3. Shows how the wheel arch plug seals the wheel arch hole and enables the awning skirt 3. to be fitted so as to form a continuous barrier against the wind blowing under the caravan.

Claims (3)

1. A removable plug which fits closely into the wheel arch or arches of a caravan or similar vehicle.
2. A removable wheel arch hole plug as claimed in Claim 1 wherein a means of attaching the upper edge of the awning skirt to the outer surface of the plug is provided.
3. A removable wheel arch hole plug as claimed in Claims 1 & 2 and substantially as depicted in Figures 1, 2 & 3 of the accompanying drawing.
