Description

SWAY INDUCER This invention automatically rocks a swinging cradle.
Swinging cradles are small infant cots usually suspended by some means above a firm, stable, supporting stand. It's purpose is to gently sway from side to side in order to soothe the baby/infant within.
Rocking such cradles quickly becomes tiring and time consuming, facilitating the need for relief.
This present invention provides the means to sway a swinging cradle continuously. A compact, detachable unit comprising of a motor, gear box, pinion link rod, push rod, several magnets and a standard mains adaptor socket.
Figure 1 shows in perspective, the device in a static position.
Figure 2 shows the device in front elevation.
Referring to the drawing, the mechanism employs a gear box 1, a motor 2 and a mains adaptor socket 8, all of which, when power is applied, enables the pinion link rod 4 via the push rod 3, to pivot the mounting plate 5. The drive magnet 6, due to the reciprocating action of the mounting plate 5, deflects the driven magnet 7 sufficiently and constantly, thereby producing a continuous swaying motion.
As can be seen in Fig 2 the push rod 3 is attached to the mounting plate 5 via a mini hinge 9.
The pivot 10, is an integral part ofthe mounting plate 5 and enables free reciprocal movement.

Claims (8)

1. A sway inducer comprising of a motor, gear box, pinion link rod, push rod, several magnets and a standard mains adaptor socket.
2. A sway inducer as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the motor, supplied via a standard mains adaptor socket, produces the necessary rotational drive in order to maintain the rate determined.
3. A sway inducer as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2, wherein the determined rate is dictated by the corporate gear box.
4. A sway inducer as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 3, wherein the pinion link rod, rotates at the rate determined.
5. A sway inducer as claimed in Claim 4 wherein the rotating pinion link rod transfers power and motion, to the push rod via a hinge joint.
6. A sway inducer as claimed in Claim 5 wherein the push rod is hinged to the drive magnet mounting plate.
7. A sway inducer as claimed in Claim 6, wherein the drive magnet activates the co-operate driven magnet.
8. A sway inducer as primarily described herein with reference to Figures 1 or 2 of the accompanying drawing.
