Abstract

The mixer drum 1 is mounted on an excavator or tractor by means of a quick-release adaptor plate 7. The drum motor is driven from the auxilary hydraulic power take-off.

Description

PORTABLE ROTATING DRUM MIXER (A) This Invention relates to a hydraulically powered portable rotating 'drum mixer'.
(B) Fixed small rotating drum mixers are commonplace on building sites for mixing concrete. On farms to mix animal foodstuff. Wherever materials are mixed. vou will invariablv find a drum mixer.
(C) Ref,grseHnce to front end loading machines, for example, a 'JCB'òr 'Bob Cat also farm tractors. A common application of this type of machine is the Auxiliary Hydraulic Power Take Off, controlled by the operator from within his cab. A feature, that supplies a source of pressurised hydraulic fluid for the independent use of a wide range of hydraulically driven ancillary tools and equipment.
(D) The portable rotating drum mixer will utilise this hydraulic power.
The purpose of the mixer is to be portable and move as and when required, for example, about a building site or factory. The mixer attaches to the type of loading machines as previously described in (C).
The attachment to the front end of the machine is by means of a quick release adapter plate (E) A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows an isometric drawing illustrating the mixer drum (Item 1) located about its support structure (Item 6).
Figure 2 shows a view of Figure 1 looking up from the underneath side of the support structure (Item 6) revealing Items 2-3-4-5. A brief description of Items shown in Figures 1 and 2 follows: Item 1 Fabricated steel rotating Mixer Drum.
Item 2 Final Speed Reduction Unit. Supports and revolves mixer drum. (Item 1).
Item 3 Layshaft. Transmits drive to reduction unit (Item 2).
Item 4 Self-aligning Coupling. Connects motor to layshaft Item 5 Hydraulic Motor. Powered from the auxiliary hydraulic take off (C). Supplies the initial rotational drive to the reduction unit. (Item 2). Through coupling (Item 4) and the layshaft (Item 3) Item 6 Steel structure to support the mixer drum and contain Items 2-3-4-5. Secured to the adaptor plate (Item 7).
Item 7 Quick release adaptor plates, designed to fit the various types of equipment encountered on front end loading machines Figure 3 shows the mixer assembly (Items 1-6) secured to the appropriate adaptor plate (Item 7) which in turn is fitted to the front end of the machine. The mixer assembly in the position indicated on the drawing would be normal for either loading or travelling. The drum can be rotated whilst the machine is travelling.
Figure 4 in this position the mixer drum would discharge the contents of the drum. The differing mixer drum positions are actuated by the front end operating controls, equipment standard on all front end loaders.
For example, the ability to raise and lower, crowd forward and tilt backwards.

Claims (3)

  1. A removable rotating drum mixer fitted with a quick release adaptor plate.
  2. 2 A removable rotating drum mixer as claimed in Claim 1 wherein 'snap to' pipe connections are fitted to the hydraulic motor (Item 5).
These connections, one inlet and one outlet, allow for the free flow of pressurised hydraulic fluid through the motor. The design of the connections ensures a rapid link up between the motor and the auxiliary hydraulic power take off (C).
  3. 3 A removable rotating drum mixer that incorporates all of the components shown in Figures 2-3 and listed as Items 1-2-3-4-5-6 7. A brief description of which can be found in a section (E).
