Abstract

A thermally sensitive control unit for a liquid heating vessel comprises a pair of L-shaped metal side plates (20) between which are sandwiched an electrical connector unit (16) and a switch unit (26). A pair or thermally sensitive actuators (24) are mounted for thermal contact with the base of a liquid heating vessel on a corner plate (22) which is also mounted between the plates (20), the actuator (24) operates to trip a trip lever (78), which opens a set of contacts in the switch unit (26) in the event that the base of the liquid heating vessel overheats. A steam sensitive switch (10) mounted between the plates (20) also operates to trip the lever (78) to open the contacts.
