Abstract

A bicycle security device has a cycle cradle which is mounted onto a roof support. Hinged to the lower part of the cradle is the front enclosure plate 2, which when in the locked position creates an enclosed area for the cycle crossbar to rest 7. When lock is in open position front enclosure plate 2, can be lowered and cycle removed. The lock itself is mounted within lock shroud 3, which in turn secures onto catch plate 5, when front enclosure plate is in upright position.

Description

Bicycle Security Device This invention relates to a bicycle security device.
Bicycle security devices are well known lockable anti-theft products. There are various types of these products available, all of which deter the opportunist thief.
These products however require an immovable object to which the cycle can be secured.
According to the present invention there is provided an immovable locking device comprising a cycle frame cradle, a front hinged enclosure plate, means for locking the hinged enclosure back onto the cycle frame cradle.
The cradle lending itself to fixing to a roof joist by way of steel bolts / nuts and incorporating a hinged link between the cradle and front enclosure.
A specific embodyment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1. Shows in perspective the bicycle security device in the locked position.
Figure 2. Illustrates the bicycle security device in the un-locked position.
Bicycle Security Device Referring to the drawing, the bicycle security device comprises a cycle frame cradle 1.
and a front hinged enclosure 2. which is capable of being locked to the cycle cradle 1. as shown in fig 1. At the base of the cycle cradle 1. and front enclosure 2. a hinged link 6. is incorporated to allow opening of front enclosure 2. to between 900 1 95".
In order to remove the bicycle from the cradle 1. the front hinged enclosure 2. is unlocked and lowered until it rests on lower limit stop as shown in fig 2. The cycle is then lifted out and clear of the device.
In order to mount the device holes 4. are drilled in the upper part of the cycle cradle 1., the cradle is then offered up to a roof joist, holes are then marked through, drilled and complete assembly bolted into position.
To re-locate the cycle into cradle 1. the steps described in paragraphs 1 & 2 above are carried out in reverse sequence.

Claims (5)

Claims
1. An immovable locking device comprising a cycle frame cradle, a front hinged enclosure plate, means for locking the front hinged enclosure back onto the cycle frame cradle. The cradle lending itself to fixing onto a roof joist by way of steel bolts / nuts and incorporating a hinged link between cycle cradle and front enclosure.
2. An immovable locking device as claimed in claim 1. wherein the enclosure of the cycle frame is provided by the hinged front plate being lifted into the locked position.
3. An immovable locking device as claimed in claim 1. or claim 2. wherein the locking mechanism is fully enclosed within the device when in the locked position.
4. An immovable locking device as claimed in claim 2. or claim 3. wherein the cradle is pre-drilled for secure mounting purposes to a roof support.
5. An immovable locking device substantially as described herein with reference to figure 1. and 2. of the accompanying drawings.
