Abstract
A position-adjustable base assembly for a monitor including a base 1 having a top concave recess and a seat 2 located above the base and having a convex bottom surface. The base is connected to main frame housing 41 of an equipment associated with the monitor by means of a guide shaft 3 extending through a slot 42 on the housing, allowing the base to slide in the slot. The base is provided with a guide rod 12 which is in an eccentric relation with the guide shaft and upward extends through an arcuated slot 21 formed on the seat, such that the seat is guided by the guide rod to slide along the arcuated slot. The seat is provided at top surface with multiple retaining means 22 to secure the monitor thereto. Whereby when the guide shaft slides leftward or rightward in the slot on the housing, the monitor is adjusted in its lateral positions relative to the equipment, and when the seat is rotated about the guide shaft, the monitor is adjusted in its horizontal and longitudinal positions relative to the equipment.
Description
A POSITION-ADJUSTABLE BASE ASSEMBLY FOR MONITOR
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a position-adjustable base assembly for monitor, and more particularly to a base assembly which allows a monitor connected thereto to be freely adjusted by a user to different horizontal and longitudinal positions relative to an equipment onto which the base assembly and the monitor are mounted.
A conventional base assembly for monitor usually includes only a hemispherical convex upper member and an associated concave lower member to achieve angular position adjustment of the monitor. Such base assembly allows the monitor to be adjusted only in its vertical angular positions relative to the equipment while the monitor is always located at a fixed point. When such base assembly for monitor is used on an integrally formed electronic calculator equipment, such as an integrally formed cash register, following disadvantages are found: 1. The monitor is mounted on a top of such integrally formed electronic calculator equipment (in the case of a cash register, the monitor thereof is fixedly mounted on a top casing of the cash register) via a base assembly which is fixedly connected to the equipment and can be adjusted only in its vertical angular position. The monitor is not allowed to be shifted forward or backward and leftward or rightward relative to the equipment.
2. Usually, the monitor is of vacuum tube type and has a considerable depth. And, to avoid occupying too much room on a limited desktop, the general electronic calculator equipment, such as the cash register, needs to be as shorter as possible. This causes a display of the monitor on an integrally formed cash register to be very close to the eyes of an operator and therefore causes uncomfortableness and inconvenience to the operator.
3. When the operator operates the equipment at different positions, the conventional base assembly for monitor does not allow the monitor to be adjusted in its position to provide the operator the best visual distance and angle.
It is therefore tried by the inventor to develop a positionadjustable base assembly for monitor to improve the above drawbacks existed in the conventional base assembly for monitor.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The position-adjustable base assembly for monitor according to the present invention mainly includes a base having a top concave recess and a seat located above the base and having a convex bottom surface. The base is connected to main frame housing of an equipment associated with the monitor by means of a guide shaft extending through a slot on the housing, allowing the base to slide in the slot. The base is provided with a guide rod which is in an eccentric relation with the guide shaft and upward extends through an arcuated slot formed on the seat, such that the seat is guided by the guide rod to slide along the arcuated slot.
The seat is provided at top surface with multiple retaining means to secure the monitor thereto.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The structure, the features, and the performance of the present invention can be best understood by referring to the following detailed description of the preferred embodiment and the accompanying drawings, wherein
Fig. 1 is an assembled perspective of the present invention;
Fig. 2 is an exploded perspective of the present invention;
Fig. 3 is a perspective showing the present invention being used on a cash register;
Fig. 4 is a side sectional view of the present invention; and
Fig. 5 illustrates different positions to which the present invention can be adjusted.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
Please refer to Figs. 1 to 4. The present invention relates to a position-adjustable base assembly for a monitor 7 and mainly includes a base 1 having a concave recess formed on a top surface thereof and a seat 2 located above the base I and having a convex bottom surface. The base 1 is connected to a housing 41 of a main frame of an electronic calculator equipment, such as a cash register 4 as exemplified in this case, by means of a guide shaft 3. The guide shaft 3 is provided with an axially extended threaded hole 32 and is extended upward from an inner side of the housing 41 to pass through a slot 42 formed on the housing 41, such that a bolt 31 can be extended downward through a through hole 11 formed on the base 1 and then be screwed into the threaded hole 32 of the guide shaft 3. The slot 42 extends in a direction parallel to a front surface of the equipment, that is, the cash register 4 in this case, so that the whole base assembly of the present invention can be moved leftward or rightward in the slot 42 relative to the equipment. The guide shaft 3 may be a separate member or be integrally formed on a bottom side of the base 1. The base 1 is also provided on its top surface with an upward projected guide rod 12 which is in an eccentric relation with the guide shaft 3. The seat 2 is formed on its convex bottom with an arcuated slot 21 which extends in a direction substantially normal to the front surface of the equipment 4. According to the embodiment illustrated in the figures, the guide rod 12 of the base 1 upward extends through the arcuated slot 21 of the seat 2. A slide plate 5 is put around the guide rod 12 and then a pressing plate 6 is overlaid on the slide plate 5. Screws 61 are used to fix the pressing plate 6 to a top surface of the guide rod 12, such that the seat 2 is allowed to slide longitudinally and to rotate clockwise and counterclockwise relative to the base 1. The slide plate 5 is provided at its bottom surface and top surface with projected portions 51 and 52, respectively, so that the sliding and the rotation of the seat 2 relative to the base 1 can be done in a more smooth manner. The seat 2 is also provided at proper positions with retaining means 22 to engage with retaining holes 71 correspondingly formed on the monitor 7, so that the monitor 7 is firmly and stably positioned on top of the seat 2.
Please refer to Fig. 5. When the guide shaft 3 associated with the base I is shifted leftward or rightward in the slot 42 of the housing 41, the monitor 7 and the whole base assembly to which the monitor 7 is connected can be adjusted in their lateral position relative to the main frame of the equipment 4. And, due to the eccentric relation of the guide rod 12 which connects the seat 2 to the base 1 with the guide shaft 3 which connects the base 1 to the housing 41 of the main frame of the equipment, the seat 2 and the monitor 7 associated with the seat 2 are allowed to rotate about the guide shaft 3. That is, with the base assembly of the present invention, the position of the monitor 7 can be adjusted forward, backward, leftward, or rightward relative to the main frame of the equipment 4.
Moreover, the seat 2 and the monitor 7 connected to it can be pivotally rotated about the guide rod 12 clockwise or counterclockwise, so as to adjust side angular Positions of the monitor 7 relative to the main frame of the equipment 4.
And, when the seat 2 and the monitor 7 are shifted along the arcuated slot 21 guided by the guide rod 12 the monitor 7 can be adjusted in its vertical angular positions relative to the equipment 4. This is a conventional function.
The base 1 has a handle portion 13 projected from one side of the base 1 to facilitate operation of the base 1 by a user through the handle Portion 13.
