Abstract
A bath overflow preventer comprises a buoyant sphere 6 attached to the bathplug 4 e.g. by means of a chain 5.
Description
Bath Overflow Prevent or
This invention relates to bath overflow prevention.
swaths are used every day in thousands of homes, and are often run and left unattended, resulting in water overflow, and causing serious damage.
The existing overflow outlet, connected to the bath waste, will most often not cope wit the volume of water to the bath wastepipe resulting in the level of water continuing to rise, and consequent flooding.
According to the present invention, there is provided a sphere attached to a chain and plug.
The plug will eject, lifted by the sphere under pressure when immersed in the rising water.
This will allow the rising water to recede in the normal manner, through the bath waste trap and pipe.
Dhe whirlpool effect of the receding water, will drag the plug the chain and the sphere back in position, resulting in the bathwater not being totally lost.
Shis will repeat itself until the running water has been turned off.
hIGL 1 Shows in perspective, tre sphere, the chain,
and the plug in position.
FIGv 2 Illustrates the ejection of the plug and
chain lifted by the immersed sphere under
pressure.
Referring to the drawings, they comprise of bath 1 existing conventional overflow outlet 2,bathwaste pipe 3, plug 4, chain 5, and sphere 6.
