Abstract

The base 1 of the housing contains one or more apertures 4 to allow access for the electrical supply cables of external electrical devices to be connected to the electrical sockets 3.The electrical supply cable 2 for the cable tidier is connected to the electrical sockets 3.The lid 5 is either detachable or hinged. The base and the lid forms the housing. The housing is designed to sit on the desk top and may have pillars attached to the base to wrap excess cable around. The housing is shaped in such a way as to allow external electrical equipment ,for example a computer monitor, to sit on top of the housing. The housing may include a fuse, circuit breaker or filter and may have telecommunication sockets.

Description

DESCRIPTION CABLE TIDIER This invention relates to a bousing containing electrical sockets in such a manner to provide a central housing to plug desk top electrical equipment into.
With any number of electrical devises in use on desk tops there is often a tangle of supply cables going to wall sockets, floor boxes and trailing socket boxes.
Therefore this invention provides a means of electrically connecting all the electrical supply cables of the different electrical devices to one central point within an enclosed housing situated on the desk top.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: FIGURE 1 Diagramatic concept showing how desk top electrical equipment are connected to mains electricity i.e. a number of different cables from the desk top to a supply.
FIGURE 2 Diagramatic concept showing how the cable manager reduces the number of supply cables.
FIGURE 3 Illistrates a typical layout of the cable tidier (the lid is shown removed).
FIGURE 4 Illistrates a typical application of the cable tidier.
The cable tidier consists of a housing containing electrical sockets with detachable lid or hinged lidA single electrical supply cable supplies electricity to the electrical sockets within the housing aperture in the housing allows access to the electrical sockets within the housing from external electrical equipment The housing may be shaped in such a way as to allow seperate electrical devices to sit oo top of it The cable tidier may have internal pillors in order to wrap excess cable around.
Also the cable tidier may contain electrical switches accessible from the outside of the cable tidier to control one or more of the electrical sockets within the housing.
