Abstract

A electrically operated holdall for the boot of a motor car, the purpose of it is to cover items from movement. The operation of the frame 10 is by releasable connection to two electric devices 20, so as to enable the holdall to be lowered or raised. Adjustable extention arms 12 can be brought to arrest at appropriate positions along the frame 10, to enable co-operation with the elasticated strapping 16 and the releasable movable sides 14 when the holdall is in use or not. The holdall can be left in a vertical or horizontal position, or removed if wished.

Description

ELECTRIC CAR BOOT HOLDALL.
This invention relates to a electric car boot holdall.
The boot of a motor vehicle is the major luggage compartment, used for carrying miscellaneous items. These items are then left to the movement of the motor vehicle. There are types of holdalls that are available for the application of covering items in the boot of a motor vehicle, but they can be restricted, and inconvenient when in use.
Holdalls are, however, of basic use. Moreover the lack of versatility in general, minimalizes their availability.
According to the present invention there is provided a electric car boot holdall comprising of a three sided frame with extention arms, releasable movable sides and elastic type strapping of variable expansion capabilities attached. The extention arms are adapted to slide up and down the frame, to co-operate with each other. The frame being operated to go up or down by releasably secured connections, to arms attached to two devices, ideally situated below the boot floor, and brought about by a switch or similar means.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows in perspective the holdail in a vertical position.
Figure 2 illustrates the holdall in use before being extended.
Figure 3 shows the holdall in a position of use extended; and Figure 4 shows the holdall extended in a horizontal position.
Referring to the drawings, the holdall comprises of a three sided frame 10 with removable movable sides 14 and two extention arms 12, also with removable movable sides 14 and elastic type strapping 16 of variable expansion capabilities, the expansion capabilities being greater at the base of the frame 10 and progessivly reducing along the frame 10 and the extention arms 12, so they co-operate with each other, extended or not, as shown in Fig 2 and Fig 3.
In order to lower the holdall from the vertical position as shown in Fig 1 to a position of use, a switch or similar means (not shown) would be operated to activate the devices 20 and subsequently the connection arms 18 with which the frame 10 is releasably secured, by for example a number of screws or similar means (not shown).
This will enable the holdall to take on a box like shape as shown in Fig 2, when brought to arrest over a number of items or an item.
In the position as shown in Fig 2, the extention arms 12 can be released by a button or similar means (not shown) attached to the ends of the extent ion arms 12 and brought to arrest fully extended as shown in Fig 3 and Fig 4, or at appropriate connections (not shown) along the frame 10. When not in use, the holdall can be put in a horizontal position, and lie flat out of the way, as shown in Fig 4.
To operate the holdall back to a vertical position as shown in Fig 1, the steps described above are carried out in the reverse sequence.

Claims (8)

1 A electric car boot holdall comprising of a three sided frame with releasable movable sides and two extention arms attached, also with releasable movable sides, elastic type strapping of variable expansion capabilities attached to the releasable movable sides, the expansion capabilities being greater at the base of the frame and progessivly reducing along the frame and the extention arms, so they co-operate with each other, extended or not. Also means of connection to at least two electric devices, to enable the holdall to be operational.
2 A electric car boot holdall as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the extention arms are connected to the frame to enable them to co-operate in the operation of lengthening or reducing the coverage capability of the holdall.
3 A electric car boot holdall as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 wherein elastic type strapping is connected to the releasable movable sides of the frame on all three sides.
4 A electric car boot holdall as claimed in Claim 2 or Claim 3 wherein elastic type strapping is connected to the releasable movable sides of the extention arms, so they co-operate with the frame.
5 A electric car boot holdall as claimed in Claim 3 and Claim 4 wherein the releasable movable sides are provided with at least one hinge each, so as to co-operate with the elastic type strapping, the frame and the extention arms.
6 A electric car boot holdall as claimed in any preceding claim wherein the extent ion arms are brought to arrest along the frame by release catches connected to each arm.
7 A electric car boot holdall as claimed in Claim 6 wherein there is at least one connecting arm, attached to each of the electric devices. To enable the holdall to be releasably secured.
8 A electric car boot holdall substanitally as described herein with reference to Figures 1-4 of the accompanying drawings.
