Abstract
An aircraft or model aircraft propeller blade is either mounted to swivel against a stop, about an axis near its leading edge and extending at 90 degrees to the axis about which the propeller rotates, or the blade is incorporated near the tip of a fixed pitch blade, the concave surface of which acts as a stop. The blade relies upon external air pressure to cause it to swivel. Scimitar-like blades may be used in an electrically powered model aircraft.

According to the present invention, each blade swivels, by the external air pressure acting upon it, about an axis at 900 to the main engine drive shaft, and along or near to the leading edge of the blade, as in a weathercock.
A stop, as in the function of a door stop, is fitted near each axis. This stops the swivel of the blade, when it is rotated around the mainsbaft by the engine, at a suitable angle for it to screw into the air.
When the aircraft is gliding each blade feathers automatically by the external air pressure acting upon it.
The airscrew is inainly intended for electrically powered model aircraft, allowing the use of large area and scimitar blades.
It also has application to frill size aircraft.
It may also be incorporated near the tip of a conventional fixed pitch blade, utilising the concave surface as the stop.
Claims (2)
1. A weathercock type aircraft propeller blade, in which its screwing effect and its feathering
is actuated by the external air pressure acting upon it.
2. A weathercock type aircraft propeller blade as claimed in claim 1 which is incorporated
into a fixed pitch propeller blade.
