Abstract

A step ladder stabiliser comprising a step ladder and a pair of pivotable members 14, mounted at the top of the stiles 9 of the main frame, that may be held against the stiles by clips 10 when not in use and extend outwardly and downwardly when in a supporting position, terminating in feet adapted to engage a variety of surfaces without slipping.

Description

STEP LADDER STABILISERS THIS INVENTION RELATES TO THE STEADYING OF STEP LADDERS OF ALUMINIUM CONSTRUCTION.
FIG. 1 SHOWS THE STEPS OPEN AND THE STABILISERS (14) NOT IN USE, i.e. CLOSED TO THE SIDES WITH CLIPS(10) ATTACHED TO THE STEPS.
FIG. 2 SHOWS THE STEPS IN USE AND THE STABILISERS UNCLIPPED AND PLACED ANYWHERE WITHIN THE LADDER SPAN.
FIG. 3 SHOWS THE FEET THAT ARE INSERTED INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE STABILISERS (14) MADE UP OF A HARD NYLON PAD (15) AND INSERTED INTO BASE - A HARD PLUG (16).
Fig. 4 SHOWS THE SWIVEL CLAMP (18) THAT IS FITTED AROUND THE STEPS MAIN FRAME (9) WITH A SECOND FITTING (19) ATTACHED WITH A STRONG METAL RIVET (20) AND NYLON WASHERS TO ALLOW IT TO REVOLVE WHEN THE STABILISERS (14) ARE FITTED INTO FITTING 19 WITH A STRONG NUT AND SOLT.

Claims (4)

CLAIMS.
1. THE SWIVEL CLAMPS (18) ATTACHED TO THE @AIN FRAME OF THE STEP LADDERS ARE A FIXED BOLTED UNIT UNABLE TO MOVE ONCE FITTED.
2. THE STABILISERS ONCE UNCLIPPED CAN BE PLACED IN ANY POSITION AWAY FROM OBSTACLES AROUND THE STEPS.
3. THE FEET OF THE STABILISERS GRIP LAWNS, SOIL, AS WELL AS TILED SURFACES, WITHOUT SLIPPING.
4. THE STABILISERS CAN BE SHORTENED TO FIT ANY HEIGHT OF STEPS.
