Abstract

An apparatus which stores and displays posters. One poster is displayed within a frame (g) and the other posters not on display are stored on a roller mechanism. The roller mechanism contains an engaging mechanism (b) turning knobs to be turned manually or by electricity (c) and stores the posters on the rollers (a) whilst the poster on display is held flat onto backing material (d), backing sheet (e), and spacers (h). The poster on display is behind clear glass or plastics material. The apparatus can be used inside or out and suggestions for wall hanging are seen in figure 3.

Description

THE SUSEAN -- - This apparatus is designed to store more than one poster within one frame whilst at the same time is designed as a display frame.
One poster can be displayed within the frame whilst the remainder remain rolled and stored behind the displayed poster.
This apparatus was designed for areas where there is not enough wall space to hang many posters and is also designed to cut the costs of buying more than one frame for the posters. By storing posters behind the one frame means that each poster can be used as and when required by merely rolling the required poster into the front display position.
Each frame stores a number of posters and these posters can be rolled into the display position manually or by electrical power.
The posters will be attached to muslin to ensure that they remain flat and stretched but at the same time do not catch and tear.
The edge of the muslin will be hemmed to ensure durability whilst moving around the rollers and between the feeds. Whilst each poster is in the display position a ratchet gear will ensure that they do not slip down but remain centrally displayed. The feeds will be designed to ensure that they do not let the hemmed muslin stick or pucker whilst being rolled. Each roller will have a slight indentation to allow for the thickness of the hemmed muslin.
The frames can be any size or colour depending on the posters that they carry.
The 'Susean' is a cost-saving device and is designed to allow the client to choose the poster of his or her choice by merely rolling onto the poster they desire to see displayed and framed.
Figure 1 Comprises of the following: a) Roller - carries muslin and posters.
b) Ratchet gear - holds muslin and posters in tension to prevent slipping and rucking (with disengaging apparatus).
c) Turning knob - to turn roller manually in desired direction.
(Can also be turned under electrical power).
d) Posters attached to muslin backing.
e) Backing sheet - to help keep poster flat and made of hardboard.
f) Clear Acrylic - to protect poster and help keep flat as in e).
g) Frame - Hides roller mechanism, aids display function.
h) Spacer assembly - to create consistent gap between e) and f).
j) Body - to contain roller mechanism.
Figure 2 Illustrates spacer bolt and nut assembly - see h) above.
Figure 3 Illustrates the back of the apparatus and shows two methods of fixing to the wall.
k) Keyhole plate 1) By means of battens attached to the body and the wall.
NOTES 1) Plan is not to scale or proportion.
2) Ratchet mechanism not shown to avoid confusing detail.
3) Frame could be narrower on sides, or rollers could be inset further.
4) Gap between acrylic and backing sheet exaggerated for clarity.
5) Not all spacer rivets shown on section plan to avoid confusing detail.
