Description

41669.spe 2313111 TITLE Winding Machine for Cut Webs This invention
relates to a winding machine for winding up webs of material of plastic, paper or the like which are sub-divided by longitudinal cuts.
For winding up webs of plastic, paper and the like subdivided by longitudinal cuts, it is known to use winding machines which have a number of winding stations arranged in two lines to which the separate webs of material are fed in alternation. Each winding station has two winding arms, each with a core grip head by which a winding roll is secured and is rotatable by means of a winding motor.
In order to set the required format the winding arms of each winding line are transversally displaceable on one common cross arm by means of an adjusting motor carried by the winding arm. Each winding arm thus has a winding motor and an adjusting motor which, being electric motors, have to be supplied with electrical power and controlled individually.
For controlling the individual motors known winding machines each contain a fixed regulating control device (also known as an amplifier) connected to the mains and to a central control unit. Power supply and signal lines lead from the regulating devices to each of the two motors on each winding arm. If modern AC servo-motors are used there must be at least two cables, a control cable and a power cable, with up to 13 lines, 41669.spe leading to each motor.
In the case of winding machines with large working widths, up to 1 Om, for producing narrow winding rolls, for example 300-350 mm wide, it may be necessary for up to 60 winding arms to be suitably connected by cables to two motors in each case whilst at the same time ensuring that the cabling does not impede the transverse displacement of a winding arm. The end result is that extremely thick bundles of cables are required which are expensive to install.
This invention seeks to provide a considerable simplification of the cabling of a winding machine.
According to this invention there is provided a ding machine for winding up webs of material of plastic, paper or the like, which are subdivided by longitudinal cuts, the machine having a number of winding stations each comprising two winding arms mounted on a common crossbar with each winding arm being fitted with a regulating motor for transverse positioning of the arms and a core grip head with a winding motor, a regulating device under the control of a central control unit serving to actuate the individual winding and regulating motors, each winding arm having a regulating device with the power for all the motors being supplied by lines which are attached to the crossbar and which are in sliding contact with the regulating device.
In this invention each winding arm has an individual regulating device attached to the winding arm itself. At least the power supply from the mains and preferably the control of the winding motors or a winding line are carried out as far as the relevant winding arm via common contact 41669.spe 3 bars situated on or in the crossbar and connected by sliding contacts with the relevant regulating device.
This invention is further described and illustrated with reference to the drawing showing an embodiment by way of example and being a simplified part cross section, taken in the direction of travel of the web of material, through a winding machine in accordance with this invention.
As shown in the drawing, awinding machine is provided in the known manner with two winding lines which each have a continuously extending crossbar 1, 2 and on which are mounted a number of winding stations.
The individual webs 3 produced by longitudinal cutting of a web of up to 10m in width are.fed alternately to the winding stations of the two winding lines and wound up forming winding rolls 4, 5. The winding stations of the two winding lines are of identical construction and reference is made only to the winding line shown on the left in the drawing.
Each winding station consists of two winding arms 6 transversely displaceable and mounted on the crossbar 1. The arms are thus movable in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the crossbar 1. A regulating motor 7 for effecting the transverse displacement is mounted on each winding arm 6. The end of each winding arm 6 is fitted with a core grip head 8 which can be moved into the core of a winding roll 4 and which is driven by means of a winding drive motor 9 in order to rotate the winding roll 4 during the winding operation.
The regulating motors 7 and winding motors 9 comprise electric 41669.spe -4 motors, preferably A.C. servo-motors, provided with power and controlled by means described below.
To each winding arm 8 is affixed a regulating device 10, which accompanies the movement of the winding arm 6. The regulating device 10 is preferably affixed to the lower part of the winding arm 6, for example by means of a securing plate 11, so that the device extends approximately parallel to a casing of the crossbar 1 and as close as possible thereto. The regulating device 10 contains the necessary switch elements, amplifiers, and the like components.for supplying power and controlling the two motors 7, 9. It is thus connected with the two motors 7, 9, through the appropriate power supply and signal cables.
To the crossbar 1 are secured parallel contact bars 12 which extend along the entire path of adjustment of thewinding arms 6. The contact bars are connected to the electric mains and serve as common supply lines for the motors 7, 9, of a winding line. For the supply of power as far as the relevant winding arm, therefore, only three or four contact bars 12 are required, according to the type of motor used. No matter what position the winding arm 6 adopts in relation to the crossbar 1, the contact bars 12 are maintained connected with sliding contacts 13 of the regulating device 10. This system ensures not only that the cables required for a motor 7, 9, need only be laid between the regulating device and the relevant motor 7, 9, but also that all the cables can be laid in a fixed position, since a change in the position of a winding arm 6 does not change the cable lengths.
The cabling for the signal lines if preferably carried in the same 41669.spe manner, so that the signals for activating the regulating device (10) can likewise be transmitted through common bus lines and affixed to the crossbar. For this purpose bus lines used in common are laid on or in the crossbar 1 and likewise take the form of contact bars affixed to the said crossbar 1. These sliding contacts are also connected with sliding contacts of the regulating device 10, which latter also contains appropriate electronic elements for separating the corresponding signals and for controlling the corresponding supply lines to the motors 7, 9.
Alternatively, the control signals can also be transmitted without the use of wires to the individual regulating device 10. In this case each regulating device 10 is provided with the necessary electronic receiving and control system for the signals and the further processing thereof. Radio signals or infrared signals may be used.
