Abstract
231,170. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of King, T. T.). March 18, 1924, [Convention date]. Controllers, actuating.-In devices adapted to maintain pressure between upper and lower limits, the spring 14 normally intended to define the range is supplemented by springs 15, 24 which are independent and adjustable to vary the range of actuation. The motor producing a vacuum beneath the diaphragm 11 is cut off when contacts 31, 38 separate and cut in again when the pressure has risen to the upper level. As shown the motor is functioning and the descending diaphragm 11 is turning the lever 12 clockwise about its pivot 9, with the arm 13 moving to the right to straighten the toggle 25, 28 and bring the spring 24 past the dead centre, when the tip 34 engages the end of the bell crank latch 32 to knock it off and allow the switch to snap open. With the motor then open, a rise in pressure reverses the action and ultimately closes the switch. The adjustable spring 15 acting against the spring 14 is used to vary the upper limit of pressure, the spring 24, acting with it, varies the lower limit. The contacts 31 are kept up to their work by springs 39 round bolts 41 passing loosely through a framework as shown in Fig. 2.
