Abstract

A toy is formed from a plurality of books 1,2,3 which are interengagable to form a specific toy which may be of the form of a model such as a boat (figures 1 and 2), a car, a train or a truck. It may also take the form of a jigsaw puzzle. Interengagement may be by the means of apertures 7 into which another book may be fitted.

Description

A Tov/Book Thins invention relates to a toy/book consisting of a plurality of books which are interengageable.
Conventionally, toys which consist of shaped pieces interengaged to form an object are valuable as educational tools in shape reco-oL Typically, such toys consisted of shaped pieces in the form of building blocks, jigsaw pieces etc. Toy books are made in different shapes and sizes to attract children to handle and use them at an early age. This invention is based on shaped pieces being toy books which can intereleage with one another so as to form a toy/book having two useful propaties.
According to the invention there is provided a kit comprising a plurality of toy books so shaped as to be capable of interengaging to form a toy/book.
Preferably the shaped books have an aperture into which another toy book can be fitted.
Preferably the shaped books are interengageable in a specific manner to form one or more preXdesigned articles, rather than in an unspecified way as with building blocks.
Most preferably, the intetpged books form the shape of one specie toylbook, for example a boat. Alternatively the toy/book is a jigsaw puzzle in which the shaped books fit into a picture. Preferably the books are constructed of plastic or card with a cover, bound at one edge.
The invention will be more clearly undsstood from the following description given by way of example only with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a perspective view of three books; Figure 2 is a perspective view of a boat-shaped toy/book formed by stacking the toy books of Figure 1.
With reference to the drawings, a toy/book in the shape of a boat comprises a plurality of books 1,2, 3 of dissimilar dimensions. Each comprising several pages 4 and a cover 5 bound on one edge 6, preferentially, with book 5 comprising five pages, book 2 comprising six pages and book 3 comprising eight pages. Two books 1 and 2 have a diecut opening 7 through to the second stead so as to accommodate a book, as shown in Figure 1.
The third book 3 has no die-cut opening, also as shown in Figure 1. From Figure 2 it will be seen that the second book 2 can intngage with the cut-out of the fint book 1. The third book 3 can also fit into the die-cut opening of the senend book 2. Wben the three books 1,2 and 3 are intsengaged tbey form a boat-shpod toy/book.

Claims (5)

CLAIMS:
1. A kit comprising a plurality of toy books so shaped as to be capable of interengaging to form a toy/book.
2. A kit as claimed in Claim 1 in which the books are interengageable with one another to form a specific toy/book.
3. A kit according to Claim 2 in which the toy/book is a boat, car, train or truck.
4. A kit according to Claim 2 in which the toy/book is ajig-saw puzzle.
5. A kit according to any of Claims 1 to 4, in which a toy book is provided with an aperture into which another toy book can be fitted.

4. A kit according to Claim 2 in which the toy is ajig-saw puzzle.
