Abstract

An educational toy/book, comprising a holder 1 into which objects may be inserted or removed, having a plurality of different shaped apertures 2 and shaped books 3, each book adapted to fit a corresponding aperture.

Description

A To v/B ook This invention relates to a toy/book for sorting toy-shaped objects based on shape.
Matching shaped objects with apertures in a holder helps in shape recognition. A variety of toys, especially for younger children, are based on this e.
Conventionally the user matches the shaped objects, e.g. building blocks, to shaped apertures in a containcr by fitting them in the right apertwe. It is also highly desirable to accustom a child to handling and using books as soon as possible, and toy books are available in a range of shapes and sizes. This invention is based on the pmsion of a toy/book solving both requirements by using toy books as the shaped objects themselves.
According to the invention there is provided an educatioaal toy/book comprising a holder into which objects may be inserted or removed, having a plurality of differcntly shaped apertses and a plurality of different shaped toy books, each book adapted to fit a corresponding aperture.
The holder can be a container, for example a box. The holder is preferably construdecd of cardboard, board or wood. The toy books are preferably oonstucÇ robustly of card or board and are distinctly three-diinensional, being cuboid, cylindrical etc.
By way of example, one preferred device according to the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing, which a pcrspective view of a holder in the form of a boxed container and four corresponding toy book.
As clearly scan in the drawing, the boxed container I has four die-cut apertures 2 on opposite sides, with each aperture matching one of the shaped toy books 3. The container also has a lid 4 to allow the books to be subsequently retrieved with ease. The toy books 3 are distinctly three-dimensional and each consists of six spreads 5, bound at one edge 6. Each side of the box, with an aperture 2 and matching book 3 may also be complimentarily coloured. The opposing sides of the box having opposing colours on the colour wheel.

Claims (5)

CLAIMS:
1. An educational toy/book comprising a holder into which objects may be inserted or removed, having a plurality of different shaped apertures and a plurality of different shaped toy books, each book adapted to fit a corsssponding aperture.
2. A toy/book as claimed in Claim 1 whereby the holder is a contains.
3. A toy/book as claimed in Claim 1 whereby the holder is part ofajigsaw-type picture.
4. A toy/book as claimed in Claims 1 to 3 where fr toy books are made of either card or board.
5. A toy/book as claimed in Claims I to 3 in which the holder made of carboazd, board or wood.
