Description

Surfaceable Inspection Cover This invention relates to a surfaceable inspection cover.
Inspect ion covers are found on all roads and present a hazard to motor vehicles and pedestrians due to their slippery condition when wet.
The surfaceable inspection cover is designed to allow the cover to be surfaced with the same material as the surrounding road surface to achieve a constant coefficient of friction preventing skidding on the surface of the cover. This will be of special benefit to motorcyclists especially on bends.
The design of the cover allows it to fit into the existing frames and can be made any shape but still incorporating the basic web design.
Fig 1. Shows an upper view of the cover showing the webbing on the inner part of the cover with through holes to allow the tarmac surface to bond securely to the cover.

Fig 4. Shows a section of the cover which reveals the securing lip and part of the upper and lower webbing.

Claims (5)

CLAIXS
1. A surfaceable inspection or manhole cover comprising of a cast iron or welded steel replacement cover with recessed upper side to accept tarmac or alternative material.
2. A surfaceable inspection or manhole cover as claimed in claim 1 to replace existing plain iron or steel covers.
3. A surfaceable inspection or manhole cover as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 that by design is as strong as the original but of the same total thickness.
4. A surfaceable inspection or manhole cover as claimed in claim 2 or claim 3 that can be of any shape or size.
5. A surfaceable inspection or manhole cover substantially described herein with reference to figures 1 - 3 of the accompanying drawings.
