Abstract

A pallet fork 12 has a mountable protective shoe or guard 10 which is mounted so that the pallet fork 12 is able to operate its normal duties of lifting and carrying loads. The protective shoe 10 is able to fit any section of pallet fork 10. The fitment of cross brackets 11 enable the protective shoe to be securely fastened to the pallet fork. The protective shoe 10 reduces the wear of the pallet fork heel 9 when coming into contact with the ground and helps to increase the operational life of the pallet fork 10.

Description

MOUNTABLE PROTECTIVE SHOE THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A MOUNTABLE PROTECTIVE SHOE FITTED TO PALLET FORKS ON FORK LIFT TRUCKS.
PALLET FORKS ARE USED ON ALL TYPES OF FORK LIFT TRUCKS TO HANDLE PALLETS.
STILLS AND CRATES. THE PALLET FORKS ARE DESIGNED TO LIFT GIVEN WEIGHTS.
ACCORDING 1'0 THEIR SECTION THICKNESS AND WIDTH. THE PALLET FORKS,LIFT FROM THE UNDERNEATH PART OF MATERIAL LOADS. IT IS WHILST MANOEUVRING IN AND OUT THE UNDERNEATH OF LOADS. THAT THE HEEL OF THE PALLET FORK BECOMES IN CONTACT WITH THE GROUND SURFACE AND CAUSES WEAR. IF THE HEEL OF THE PALLET FORK WEARS MORE THEN 10's OF THE THICKNESS OF THE FORK. IT IS DEEMED UNSAFE FOR OPERATIONAL DUTlES AND HAS TO BE REPLACED.
ACCORDlNG TO THE PRESENT INVENTION THERE IS PROVIDED A MOUNTABLE PROTECTIVE SHOE WITH A HARDENED STEEL HEEL. TO COMPRiSE A PROFILE SHOE WHICH FITS TO DlFFEREN1' SECTIONS OF PALLET FORKS. MEANS FOR CROSS BRACKETS TO SECURE 'I'HE SHOE 'l'O THE PALLET FORK. THE SHOE PROFILE AND CROSS BRACKETS ARE FASTENED TOGETHER EY BOLTING OR WELDING TO FOR A PROTECTIVE COVER OVER 'I'HE HEEL vF THE PALLET FORK.
A SPECIFIC EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION WILL NOW BE DESCRIBED BY WAY OF EXAMPLE WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWlNGS IN WHICH FIGURE 1 SHOWS IN PERSPECTIVE. THE PALLET FORK WITH THE MOUNTABLE PROTECTIVE SHOE IN POSITION.

THE HEEL BASE 9 OF THE SHOE AND THE PALLET FORK 12.
IN ORDER FOR THE PROTECTIVE SHOE 10 1'0 BE MOUNTED TO A PALLET FORK 12 AS SHOWN 1N FIGURE 1. THE BOLTS 13 ARE FASTENED TO THE CROSS BRACKETS 11 TO GIVE A SECURE FIT. 'l-O DEMOUNT THE PROTECTIVE SHOE 10 FROM THE PALLET FORK 12. THE BOLTS 13 ARE REMOVED AND THE CROSS BRACKETS 11 ARE REMOVED TO ALLOW THE PROTECTIVE SHOE 10 TO BE TAKEN OFF. FIGURE 2 ILLUSTRATES THE CROSS BRACKETS 11 ARRANGMENT. TWO CROSS BRACKETS 11 AT THE FRONT AND ONE CROSS BRACKET 11 AT THE REAR OF THE PROTECTIVE SHOE 10.
IN ORDER TO PROVIDE A PROTECTIVE SHOE 10. A HEEL PLATE 14 HAS BEEN PLACED BETWEEN THE 2 OUTER HORIZONTAL PROFILES 17. FIGURE 3 SHOWS THE iNTERNAL SECTION OF THE HORIZONTAL PROFILE 17 AND VERTICAL PROFILE 15 OF THE PROTECTIVE SHOE. AN INDENTATION 16 HA BEEN SET IN THE HORIZONTAL 17 AND VERTICAL PROFILE 15 TO ALLOW FI1'MENT TO DIFFEREN1' MAKES OF PALLET FORK 12.

Claims (1)

1/ A MOUN1'ABLE PROTECTIVE SHOE FOR FITMENT TO A PALLET FORK. COMPRISING OF A SHOE WITH HARDENED STEEL HEEL.
2/ A MOUNTABLE PROTECTIVE SHOE AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1 WHEREIN BEING ADAPTED TO FIT PALLET FORKS.
3/ A MOUNTABLE PROTECTIVE SHOE AS IN CLAIM 1 or CLAIM 2 WHEREIN THE VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL PROFILES FITTED AROUND THE SHOE'S HEEL IS ABLE TO EE MOUNTED To VARIOUS SECTIONS OF PALLET FORKS.
4/ A MOUNJABLE PROTECTIVE SHOE AS IN CLAIM 2 or CLAIM 3 WHEREIN THE VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL PROFILES HAVE AN INDENTATION TO ALLOW FITMENT OF THE PROTECTIVE SHOE 1.0 VARIOUS SECTIONS OF PALLET FORKS.
5/ A MOUNTABLE PROTECTIVE SHOE AS IN CLAIM 3 or CLAIM 4 WHEREIN THE CROSS PRACKETS ARE FORMED TO FIT ACROSS 1'HE PALLE1' FORK AND THE HORIZONTAL PROFILE OF HE SHoE WITH ONE CROSS BRACKET AND TO FIT ACROSS THE PALLET FORK AND THE VERTICAL PROFILE OF THE SHOE WITH TWO CROSS BRACKETS TO GIVE A SECURE FlXiNG BY BOLTING OR WELDING.
6/- A MOUNTABLE PROTECTIVE SHOE AS CLAIMED IN ANY PRECEEDING CLAIMS WHEREIN THE PROTECTIVE SHOE IS PROVIDED TO FIT ANY TYPE OF SECTION OF PALLET FORK.
7/ A MOUNTABLE PROTECTIVE SHOE SUBSTANTIALLY AS DESCRIBED HEREIN WITH REFERENCE TO FIGURE 1 - 3 OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS.
