Abstract

Contact lenses, that may or may not be sight correcting, have a polarising and/or photochromatic centre area covering the pupil of the eye so that they can be used instead of sunglasses to protect the human eye from the glare given out by sunlight and the possible harm caused from ultra violet light.

Description

PROTECIIVE CONTACT LENSES This invention relates to protective contact lenses Contact lenses are normally opaque, although some have a coloured area covering the iris to enhance the colour of the users eyes.
The idea of introducing an area in the centre of a contact lens which covers the pupil , to protect the users eyes from possible handful rays from the sun will now be explained.
The human eye may find contact lenses a great help to improve the vision . Before the technology of contact lenses the people who use them may well of used glasses . Glasses are still used, not only to improve vision but to protect the human eye from possible harmful rays from sunlight and to reduce glare Sunglasses can protect the eye from ultra-violet, they can be polarised to reduce glare and they can be photo-chromatic enabling them to darken during bright light conditions and lighten when the ambient light is reduced. The technology enabling sunglasses to perform these tasks can be incorporated within a contact lens This invention relates to the idea of incorporating all the technology used in sunglasses and adapting it to be used within contact lenses

Claims (1)

  1. CLAIMS 1 - Contact lenses that have a photo-chromatic area in the centre area that covers the pupil reducing the glare from sunlight.
2 -- Contact lenses as in claim 1, that are polarised to protect the users eyes from possible hannfilll rays from sunlight.
3 - Contact lenses as in claims 1 or 2 that may or may not be sight correcting but can be used in place of sunglasses.
