Abstract

A prop (10) comprises an elongate structure (12) of adjustable length and a coil spring (18) operatively associated with the elongate structure (12) and located between the structure (12) and an end (16) of the prop (10). The elongate structure (12) comprises first and second tubes (20, 22) respectively with are relatively dimensioned so that the tube (20) can be telescopically extended from or retracted into tube (22). An eccentric cam (24) is attached to an end of tube (20) for releasably locking the tube (20) to tube (22). Coil spring (18) is located in tube (22) between a stop (38) and a increased diameter portion (44) of a leg (40). The leg (40) is slidably retained in and extends from the end of tube (22) opposite tube (20). The prop (10) can be used to support for example ceiling panels during fastening to a roof structure.
