Abstract

The bolt lathe of a cylinder lock has an extended throw by means of the cooperation of a spring biassed lever 10 with the lathe wherein a driver pin 11 on the lever moves the bolt lathe by interaction with a diagonal part of a slot 12 in the lathe. A locking recess 16 is also provided in the slot.

Description

EXTENDED BOLT TERCIW ARM LATHE POR CYLINDRICAL LOCK This invention relates to an extended bolt throw from a cylindrical lock case.
Cylindrical locks comprise of a bolt attached to a lathe, within this lathe is a talon, below this, a cutout for the insertion of a cylinder. The cylinder, when operated by a key, will turn a camb connected to the cylinder, the camb enters the talon, pushing the bolt out of the lock case, a reverse turn will retract it.
Cylindrical locks are limited on the extent of bolt throw due to the radius height of the cylinder camb.
According to the present invention, there is provided, an extended throw on the lock case bolt, comprising a lock case, bolt lathe, travel arm lever, spacing and cylinder. The travel arm lever extends and retracts the bolt throw further than the radius of the cylinder camb allows, locking the bolt in either direction of its travel.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Fig 1 shows the bolt throw Fig 2 shows the bolt retracted Referring to the drawing, the lock comprises: the Lock Case 1, Case Sides 2, Outer Forend 3, Inner Forend 4, Deadbolt 5, Bolt Lathe 6, Talon 7, Lanket Hole 8, Travel Arm Pivot 9, Travel Arm Lever 10, Driver 11, Bolt Throw Guide Track 12, Travel Arm Spring 13, Cylinder 14, Camb 15, Driver Pocket 16, Lever Talon 17, Keyway 18, Spring Post 19.
Fig 1 In order to throw the bolt, the Camb 15, enters the Talon 7 simultaneously lifting the Travel Arm Lever 10.
The deadbolt 5, is then thrown its full travel out of the Outer Forend 3, the Driver 11 is then arrested by the Driver Pocket 16, locking the Bolt Lathe 6 into position.
Fig 2 To retract the bolt, the Camb 15, is turned into the Talon 7, simultaneously lifting the Travel Arm lever 10, and Driver 11, from the Driver Pocket 16. The Camb 15 completes its revolution by coming into contact with the Talon 7 of the Travel Arm Lever 10, completing the retraction of the Deadbolt 5 into the Lockcase 1.

1 A cylindrical lock giving an extended bolt throw.
2 A cylindrical lock as claim 1 wherein the travel arm lever extends and retracts the bolt further than the radius of the cylinder camb allows.
3 A cylindrical lock as claim 1 and 2 that contains 2 talons extending and retracting the bolt on a longer throw.
