Abstract

A adjustable and non adjustable chord selector which enables instant changes and thus makes the instrument simple to play, this is achieved by a number of spring loaded shafts 22 with legs and feet attached to the shaft in the combination of a chord acting the part of the fingers and pressing on the strings to create the notes for the chord. The adjustable chord changer can also be adjusted (screws 14) to fit several neck widths and can also be applied, although in a smaller unit for a ukulele or banjo as the principle of chord construction is applicable to however the compilation of notes are formed. From a adjustable or non adjustable chord changer covering three frets on the fret board several different chords can be arranged and by increasing the length more shafts can be added to the key pad enabling a variation of extra chords.

Description

GUITAR CHORD CHANGER THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A GUITAR CHORD CHANGER.
GUITAR ClIORDS ARE PRODUCED BY THE USE OF FINGERS PRESSING DOWN A NUMBER OF SRINGS AT DFFERENT PSITIONS ON THE FRET BOARD.
ACCORDING TO THE PRESENT INVENTION THERE IS PROVIDED A GUITAR CEfORD CHANGER,WHICH ENABLES THE CHORDS TO BE PRODUCED BY THE DEPRESSING OF A KEY AND USING ONLY ONE FINGER.
A SPECIFIC EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION WILL NOW BE DESCRIBED BY WAY OF EXAMPLE WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS IN WHICH.
FIGURE 1 SHOWS IN PERSPECTIVE THE CHORD CHANGER IN POSITION ON THE FRET BOARD.
FIGURE 2 SHOWS THE ADJUSTABLE CHORD CHANGER FIGURE 3 SHOWS THE NON ADJUSTABLE CHORD CHANGER FIGURE 4 ShOWS THE INSIDE OF A ADJUSTABLE CHORD CHANGER WITH A KEY OPEN FIGURE 5 SHOWS THE INSIDE OF A ADJUSTABLE CHORD CHANGER WITH THE KEY CLOSED FIGURE 6 SHOWS THE INSIDE OF A NON ADJUSTABLE CHORD CHANGER FIGURE 7 SHOWS THE CHORD CHANGER STRAPPED TO THE INSTRUMENT FIGURE 8 SHOWS AN EXAMPLE OF A FULL KEY FIGURE 9 SHOWS THE KEY PAD SLOTTED IN TO A SIDE OF THE CHORD CHANGER.
REFERRING TO THE DRAWINGS THE CHORD CHANGER 1 IS FIXED TO THE TOP OF THE FRET BOARD.
IN ORDER TO USE THE THE CHORD CHANGER A KEY 11 IS PRESSED DOWN BY THE USE OF A FINGER,THIS PUSSIES DOWN A SPRING LOADED SHAFT 22 THROUGH A GUIDING PLATE 21 TO WHICH KEYLEGS 16 ARE ATTACIIED.
THESE KEYLEGS 16 ARE FIXED TO THE SHAFT 22 IN TIXEeOSTION OF A C[IORD TEACH SIIAFT 22 CARRIES ONLY 1 fULL CHORD SO FOR EVERY CHORD REQUIRD A SHAFT IS NEEDED ON THE KEY PAD 10.
AT THE BASE OF THE THE KEYLEGS 16 KEYFEET 17 ATTACHED THESE ARE TIPPED WITH RUBBER TO PRESS DOWN ON THE STRINGS AND TAKE THE PLACE OF FINGERTPS.
THE CHORD CHANGER IS ATTACHED TO THE INSTRUMENT BY STRAPS 7 AND SECURED TOGETHER UNER THE INSTRUN1ENTS NECK TO ADJUST THE WIDTH OF THE CHORD CHANGER,ADJUST TIIE ADJUSTING SCREWS 14 THESE TIGHTEN OR UNTIGHTEN TIlE CONNECTING RODS 13 AND GUIDING PLATE 21 AND PUSHES TOGETHER TilE FEMALE SIDES 12 THUS ALLOWING THE KEY PAD 10 TO SLIDE INSIDE.
TO STABALIZE THE CHORD CHANGER RODS 18 ARE POSTIONED FROM THE GUIDING PLATE KEEPING TilE CHORD CHANGER FROM TOUCHING THE STRINGS AND LEGS 19 HELP KEEP THE CHORD CHANGER IN POSITON.
THE MAIN SHAFT 22 IS PUSHED OPEN BY A SPRING 15 AFTER RELEASE AND IS KEPT IN SITU BY THE GUIDING PLATE 21 AND SPRING HOLDING PIN 20.
THE NON ADJUSTABLE CHORD CHANGER WORKS ON TIfE SAME PRINCIPLE BUT IS RIGID IN CONSTRUCTION AND NO CONNECTING RODS 13 ARE REQUIRED.
TO ADD MORE CHORDS ADD MORE KEYS 11 OR LENGTHEN TIlE CHORD CHANGER 1 FURTHER DOWN THE FRET BOARD 1.
