Abstract

A lid (1) is described for a container (8) of semi-rigid material, open on top, in particular for confectionery products and the like, made in such a way as to be firmly locked when applied onto the top opening of said container (8), so as to evidence any effraction proving an attempted or occurred tampering with the package, said lid (1) being provided with tear-away unlocking means (6,7), suitable to allow said lid (1) to be then used in a conventional manner to open and close said container (8) when required.

Description

AN ANTI-TAMPERING LID FOR A CONTAINER, IN PARTICULAR FOR CONFECTIONERY PRODUCTS AND THE LIKE DESCRIPTTON The present invention relates to a lid for a container, in particular for confectionery products, capable of evidencing any attempt to tamper with the package before sale.
To date, as a guarantee of the integrity of packages of confectionery products, for example ice-creams, chocolates and the like, a sheet element, general made of paper, polythene-coated paper, polythene-coated or painted aluminium, was fixed to the top opening of the container of said products, for example by means of heat sealing, gluing, or other known methods, and on this element a conventional lid was then applied to close the container itself.
Upon purchasing the package, if, after having removed said lid, said sheet element was found to have been tampered with, it was obvious that the integrity of the package had been violated.
The known system described above, although sufficiently effective, involves certain problems deriving from the working costs and the consumption of extra material.
The object of the present invention is to provide an anti-tampering lid for a container, in particular for confectionery products and the like, capable of guaranteeing per se, after application, the integrity of the package, without the need for said sheet element of the prior art system, with a consequent reduction in the working operations and a saving in materials.
The present invention will be illustrated in the following by a description of a preferred embodiment, given as a non-limiting example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: figure 1 is a partial longitudinal section view of an anti-tampering lid according to the invention; figure 2 is an elevation view of the lid according to figure 1; figure 3 is an elevation view, partially cut away, of the lid of figure 1 applied and locked to a container; and figure 4 is an elevation view, partially cut away, of the lid of figure 1 after removal of the locking means.
With reference to figures 1 and 2, a lid for a container, in particular for confectionery products and the like, is indicated generically in 1, having a cylindrical shape in the present example, comprising a flat top panel 2 circumferentially integral with a skirt 3.
Along the free edge of the panel 2 the top edge of the skirt 3 is rolled inwards, in order to render it rigid, so as to form a first circumferential protrusion 4.
According to the present invention, the bottom edge of the skirt 3 is also rolled inwards, forming a second circumferential protrusion 5 which forms, as it will be specified in the following, the means for locking the lid 1 onto the container to which it is applied.
Along the perimeter of the skirt 3, in a position immediately above the second protrusion 5, there is a reduced strength line 6 connected to a tear flap 7 formed by an extension downwards of a small part of the free bottom edge of the body of the skirt 3, said tear flap being separated from the skirt by cuts and being not rolled inwards.
Figure 3 shows a container 8 with the shape of a truncated cone, open at the top, suitable, for example, to form a so-called ice-cream "cup", which has a conventional stiffening collar 9 sticking out along the whole perimeter of the top opening of the container 8, obtained by rolling the edge of the top opening of the container itself outwards.
As can be seen in figure 3, the lid 1 of the present invention is mounted and firmly locked onto the container 8.
To obtain said locked connection of the lid 1 and the container 8, when the former is applied to the latter, the lid 1 of the invention is force fitted onto the opening of the container 8 until the second protrusion 5 on the lid 1, thanks to the relative elasticity of the material, passes over the collar 9 on the container 8, so as to snap under said collar and thus prevent the lid 1 from being removed from the container 8, even under a notable traction force.
In order to succeed in removing the lid 1, it is necessary to use the tear flap 7 in such a way as to remove, thanks to the reduced strength line 6, the whole perimetric part of the skirt 3 underneath said reduced strength line, comprising the second protrusion 5 which forms the locking means.
The lid 1 will then appear as illustrated in figure 4, with a configuration suitable for use as a normal lid for opening and closing the container.
The present invention is not limited to the exemplifying embodiment described, but comprises any variant thereof.

Claims (6)

1. An anti-tampering lid for a container, in particular for confectionery products and the like, formed by a top panel (2) integral with a skirt (3), characterised by the fact that said skirt (3) at the bottom edge has an internal perimetric protrusion (5) which, when said lid (1) is fitted to a corresponding container (8) with an open top, is apt to engage under the conventional stiffening collar (9) present in containers of the type mentioned above and sticking outwards along the top opening, so as to lock said lid (1) firmly onto said container (8), said lid being provided with unlocking means evidencing any attempt to tamper, for disengaging it from said container.

An anti-tampering lid for a container according to claim 1, in which said unlocking means evidencing any attempt to tamper are formed by a reduced strength line (6) formed around the perimeter of said skirt (3) on said lid (1), immediately above said internal perimetric protrusion (5), and connected to a tear flap (7).
3. A lid according to claim 1 or 2, characterised by the fact that said internal perimetric protrusion (5) is formed by rolling inwards the free bottom edge of said skirt (3)
4. A lid according to claims 2 and 3, characterised by the fact that said tear flap (7) is formed in the body of said skirt (3) by means of a protruding extension of a part of the free bottom edge of said skirt (3), said tear flap being separated from the skirt by cuts and being not rolled inwards.
5. A container, in particular for confectionery products and the like, comprising a lid according to any one of the preceding claims.
6. An anti-tampering lid for a container, in particular for confectionery products and the like, substantially as described above with reference to the figures of the accompanying drawings.
