Abstract

A cover for a cooking apparatus comprises a heat-resisting silicon rubber ring 6 covered around the periphery 51 to seal the gap between the cooking apparatus and the cover 5 when the cover 5 is in place on the cooking apparatus.

Description

COVER FOR COOKING APPARATUS BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to covers for cooking apparatus, and relates more particularly such a cover which is peripherally covered with a silicon rubber ring that seals the gap between the cover and the cooking apparatus when the cover is covered on the cooking apparatus.

Figure 1 shows a wok covered with a cover 1.

This cover 1 comprises a metal cover body 11 having a flange 12 around the periphery for stopping against the inside surface of the wok to stop steam from escaping out of the wok. Figure 2 shows a pot cover 2 covered on a pot. The pot cover 2 has a metal rim 22 covered around the glass cover body 21 thereof. This pot cover 2 has drawbacks. After a long use, the connecting area between the metal rim 22 and the periphery of the glass cover body 21 tends to be covered with dirts. Because the metal rim 22 is not detachable, it is difficult to remove dirts from the pot cover 2. Furthermore, when the pot cover 2 is covered on the pot the metal rim 22 can not completely seal the gap between the pot cover 2 and the pot, and therefore steam will escape out of the pot during cooking.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been accomplished to provide a cover for cooking apparatus which eliminates the aforesaid drawbacks. According to the present invention, the cover comprises a heat-resisting silicon rubber ring covered around the periphery. When the cover is covered on the cooking apparatus, the silicon rubber ring seals the gap between the cover and the cooking apparatus completely. Because the silicon rubber ring can be conveniently detached from the cover, the periphery of the cover can be easily and thoroughly cleaned.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Referring to Figures and 4, the periphery 51 of the pot cover, referenced by 5, is covered with a silicon rubber ring 6. As the silicon rubber ring 6 is heat-resisting and non-toxic, it does not affect food when covered on the heated pot ( not shown ). Before mounting the silicon rubber ring 6, the periphery 51 of the pot cover 5 must be polished. When the periphery 51 of the pot cover 5 is polished, the silicon rubber ring 6 can be conveniently installed. After a certain period in use, the silicon rubber ring 6 can be conveniently removed from the periphery 51 of the pot cover 5 for cleaning or for a replacement.

Figures 5A, 5B, 5C and 5C(1) show different covers for different cooking apparatus that are covered with a respective silicon rubber ring of a different cross section. As illustrated, the silicon rubber ring shown in Fig. 5 has a C-shaped cross section. Because the covers are respectively covered with a respective silicon rubber ring 6, no gap is left between the cover and the pot or wok. Therefore, heat can be effectively maintained within the pot or wok to cook food more efficiently.

Claims

CLAIMS:

1. A cover for a cooking apparatus, comprising a heat-resisting silicon rubber ring covered around the periphery.

2. The cover of claim 1 wherein said silicon rubber ring has a C-shaped cross section.

3. The cover of claim 1 wherein said silicon rubber ring has a cross section fitting the periphery of the cover in shape.

4. A cover for a cooking apparatus, the cover being substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to Figures 3, 4, 5A, 5B, 5C and/or 5C(1).

5. Cooking apparatus having a cover according to any one of the preceding claims.
