Abstract
An axle assembly for a bicycle comprises an axle 1 having threaded sections 111 at the end portions, a protrusion extending outwardly from each end portion, a pair of bearing retainers 2 and a pair of cups 3. Each bearing retainer 2 includes an inner threaded section 21 for connection to a threaded section 111 of the axle, movement of the bearing retainers 2 being stopped when engaging with the protrusion. Each cup 3 is adapted to be inserted into the end portion of the axle 1 and has an extending portion 31 which forms a circular edge which limits the inward movement of the cup when inserted into the axle. A gear 4 is threadedly connected to the end portion of the axle next to the bearing retainer to which it applies an inwardly pressing force.
Description
TITLE A ERACKB AXLE DEVICE FOR A BIYLE BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Field of the Invention
This invention relates to a bracket axle device and more particularly to a bracket axle device for a bicycle.
Related Prior Art
Bracket axle A, as shown in FIG. 3, is one of the transmission element with respect to a bicycle which includes two reduced portions Al at respective ends and two protruding inner flanges A2. Two bearing retainers B are pressed fit onto the respect reduced portions Al and each retainer B comprises a cup seat
B1 having a threaded section B11 extending therefrom and circular riange B2. two cups C are inserted tnrougn tne respect Dearing retainers ana are seatea in the reduced portions Al, as snown in FIG. 4. The press fitted cup seat B, after a period of time, will be loosen from the bracket axle A by the pulling force of a gear.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
It is the primary object of the present invention to provide a bracket axle device for a bicycle which utilizes threads to secure two cup seats to the respective ends of the bracket axle to enhence the bounding relationship.
It is an other object of the present invention to provide a bracket axle device for a bicycle which is relatively inexpensive to manufacture.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide a bracket axle device for a bicycle which is easy to mounbt and to dismental.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is an exploded view of a bracket axle device of the present invention; and
FIG. 2 is a side cross-sectional view of the bracket axle device of the present invention.
FIG. 3 is an exploded view of a prior bracket axle device;
FIG. 4 is a partial cross-sectional view of the prior bracket axle device of FIG. 3:
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
Referring now to FIGS. 1 through 2, wherein the showings are for the purpose of illustrating a preferred embodiment only and not for the purpose of
limiting an inventive concept as illustrated therein.
FIG. 1 comprises a bracket axle 1, a pair of bearing retainers 2 and a pair of cups 3 forming the present invention.
The bracket axle 1 includes two end portions 11
having threaded sections 111 thereon and a protrusion 12 extending upwardly from each end portion 11.
Each bearing retainer 2 includes an inner threaded section 21 adapted to be threadly connected with the threaded section 111 of the axle 1.
Each cup 3 has extending a portion outwardly from the bottom portion to form a circular edge 31. To assemble the present invention, each of the bearing retainers 2 is threaded onto the threaded section 111 all the way until the bearing retainer 2 engages with
the protrusion 12. Each of the cup cup 3 is then pressed through the bearing retainer 2 and into end portion 11 until the edge 31 of the cup 3 is -stopped by the engagement with respect to the inner wall of the bracket axle 1, as shown in FIG. 2 . Whereas a
gear 4 is threadedly connected to the bearing retainer 2, securely. Owing to the gear 4 is t.hreadedly connected to the threads 111 of the bracket 1 and is positioned immediately next to the cup seat 2, an inward force will be applied to the cup seat 2 from the gear 4, thus preventing the bearing retainer
2 from loosen.
Claims (2)
1. A bracket axle device for a bicycle comprising a bracket axle, a pair of bearing retainers and a pair of cups, and the improvements comprising:
said bracket axle comprising threads on respect
end portions and a protrusion extending
upwardly from each said end portion;
each of said bearing retainers comprising an
inner threaded section for threadedly
connection with respect to each salu tnreudea section of sahib bracKet axle;
2. The bracket axle device for a bicycle of claim 1, wherein each said cup has extending a portion outwardly from the bottom portion to form a circular edge which, when the cup is pressed into the inner portion of said end portion, will be stopped by the inner wall of said bracket axle.
