Abstract

Apparatus, suitable for supporting a plastic bag 1 of the type provided by supermarkets, comprises four support means 2, one pair of support means being arranged to receive one handle of a bag, the other pair being arranged to receive the other handle. The support means may be hooks 2 supported on arms 3 or may be end portions of a pair of elements, the elements being in the form of channels. Preferably the support means are spaced apart in a rectangle. The apparatus may be secured via a back plate 4 to wall 5 with screws 6. The bag may be used for collecting household waste.

Description

"A BAG HANGER" According to the present invention, there is provided apparatus comprising first, second, third and fourth supporting means, said first and second means being arranged to receive a handle of a bag and said third and fourth means being arranged to receive a second handle of said bag.
Owing to this invention it is possible to use bags, for example supermarket plastics bags, to collect refuse or waste in an efficient and easy manner.
The first to fourth supporting means preferably consist of four individual elements, e.g. hooks, providing two pairs of suspension elements for the respective handles of the bag, but could alternatively be provided by only two elements, for example two channels, for receiving the respective handles, whereby the four end portions of the two channels would constitute the first to fourth supporting means.
In order that the invention may be clearly understood and readily carried into effect, reference will now be made, by way of example, to the accompanying drawing, which shows a perspective view of a bag hanger.
Referring to the drawing, the bag 1 is suspended by its handles from two pairs of hooks 2 (of which only one pair is seen) that are fastened to horizontal arms 3 which are affixed via a back plate 4 by screws 6 to a wall 5. The arms 3 are parallel to each other and the four hooks 2 are arranged spaced apart in a rectangle. This bag hanger can be used for instance under a sink for collecting household waste and accepts the type of disposable bag that is provided by supermarkets. It can also be used to accept a bag which will serve for storage of household items, for example.

Claims (9)

1. Apparatus comprising first, second, third and fourth supporting means, said first and second means being arranged to receive a handle of a bag and said third and fourth means being arranged to receive a second handle of said bag.
2. Apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the first to fourth supporting means consist of first to fourth individual elements providing first and second pairs of suspension elements for the respective handles of the bag.
3. Apparatus according to claim 2, wherein said first to fourth individual elements are respective hooks.
4. Apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the first to fourth supporting means are provided by first and second elements for receiving the respective handles of the bag whereby end portions of said first and second elements constitute the first to fourth supporting means.
5. Apparatus according to claim 4, wherein said first and second elements are respective channels.
6. Apparatus according to any preceding claim, wherein the first to fourth supporting means are portions of a unit.
7. Apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said unit includes a back plate attachable face-to-face to a wall.
8. Apparatus according to any preceding claim, wherein the first to fourth supporting means are arranged spaced apart in a substantially horizontal rectangle.
9. A bag hanger, substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
