Abstract

A tamper-proof bolt-head, screw-head or nut is of plain cylindrical form with no drive formation and is gripped for driving by a roller clutch 1 fitted into a spanner or socket. The roller clutch 1 provides a ratchet action. <IMAGE>

Description

SCREWED FASTENINGS This invention relates to a nut and bolt/screw system, including tools.
Conventional nut and bolt/screw systems make use of special features on their heads or faces which, when using the appropriate tool, can be tightened against a component in a stronger manner than by human hand alone.
To enable a tool to be used, screw heads have specially shaped holes or grooves added to them, but this incurs some additional cost in their manufacture.
Hexagon headed nuts and bolts allow a spanner to be applied in only six positions and only giving a limited number of contact pressure points.
All nuts and bolts/screws reveal, by their actual design, the method of fixing and therefore unfixing. This means they can be easily tampered with.
According to the present invention there is provided a plain, unmarked head for a bolt/screw and plain/un-marked nut exterior.
There is also provided a socket and spanner that fully grip the circumference of the bolt/screw head and nut, allowing sufficient tightening with built in ratchet operation.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows the nut; Figure 2 shows the bolt/screw; Figure 3 shows the spanner; Figure 4 shows the socket; The nut as shown in fig.l is a nut made using conventional methods, except the nut side is completely round.
The bolt/screw as shown in fig.2 is a bolt/screw made using conventional methods, except the head side is completely round.
This matches the nut in fig.l.
The spanner as shown in fig.3 is a spanner made using conventional methods, except the ring is internally smooth to accept a "Roller Clutch" 1 when pushed into it. Where a ring is required both ends of the spanner the "Roller Clutch" 1 is mounted from the opposite side so that it will function for 'untightening'.
The socket as shown in fig.4 is made using conventional methods, except a "Roller Clutch" 1 is pushed into a plain bore.

Claims (2)

1 A bolt/screw and nut whose heads are round and show no visible signs that aided fixing.
2 Tools that will tighten or untighten a cylindrical object such as the items in claim 1 by use of the "Roller Clutch" system.
