Abstract
A document wallet 1 has a plurality of data-disc receiving pockets 11 welded to its front face, whereby both discs and associated documentation can be stored together. A sleeve sized to receive A4 papers can accept two pockets sized for compact disks (CD ROM), or four pockets sized for 3.5 inch micro floppy diskettes. The wallet may be punched at one edge for receipt in a ring binder. <IMAGE>
Description
A4 POCKET FOLDER
This invention relates to A4 pocket folders and particularly those that reside within a host file, album or ring binder.
A4 pocket folders are produced in forms which provide a means of storing single or multiple sheets of A4 sized paper or printed material. There is a type of A4 pocket folder which comprises a sheet of transparent plastic material, creased along its right edge and folded into half, and welded along the bottom and left edge. Paper or printed material is inserted through the open top into the pocket created. A semi-circular cut-out is provided to enable easier removal of the stored sheet or sheets of material. Along the left side holes are punched with spacing to suit a number of different page restraint mechanisms.
Where the holes are punched a further strip of plastic material is added to provide additional reinforcement.
Data for computers can be stored on thin, removable media, from 1 mm to 3 mm in thickness, such as 3.5 inch or 5.25 inch floppy disks, 4.75 inch (12 cm) CD-ROMs,
Floptical diskettes and Magneto Optical diskettes. The contents ofthese media can only be read by an appropriate device and displayed on a monitor. Hence it is often the practice to create a printed copy listing or summarising the contents. It is common for data files created by a user of application software, to be backed-up and stored. Thus if the working copy is damaged or destroyed, the user can resort to the backed-up copy. Backup media can contain a number of files, and it is often the practice to have different backup disks for different applications or subjects. The user would usually keep a printed list of the contents of each back-up disk in order to be able to locate a particular file.Increasingly, popular computer magazines provide, often free with the publication, computer software stored on one of the above media. Printed within the magazine is usually an explanation of the use and contents of the software provided. Should the user wish to retain the printed explanation separate from or without keeping the entire publication, the relevant sheets can be detached and stored in a A4 pocket folder. Also, it is increasingly usual, even for purchased software, for there to be no printed manual provided. Instead, included on the media containing the software files is a "Readme" file or "Manual" file which is intended to be printed out by the user for reference.
However, once the user makes a print, the print, if filed, is stored separately and remote from the data storage media, which might be stored, principally to prevent loss or damage, in a purpose designed storage box. This therefore requires two filing systems, one for the printed material and one for the data storage media. If the user wishes to use the software and refer to the printed text, both the data storage media and the filed print-out must be located. Retrieval and use would be quicker if both the media and the printed text are stored together. If the relevant printed page of text is inserted into the A4 pocket folder facing the rear, the information can be read through the clear plastic without the need to remove it from the pocket, facilitating the easier search for a specific file or information.
According to the present invention there is provided a A4 pocket folder with four clear plastic pockets welded to the front face of the folder, each open at its top for the insertion for storage and removal of 3.5 inch micro floppy disks. The pockets have a semi-circular cut-out in the top edge and are positioned on the front of the pocket folder so as to maximise the number that can be provided whilst still allowing easy insertion and removal.
It is therefore an object of the invention to store data storage media and printed A4 pages relating to the data stored on the media, together in a single A4 pocket folder which may itself reside in a host file, album or ring binder.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 shows in plan view, the A4 pocket folder with the additional pockets for storage of four 3.5 inch micro floppy disks;
Figure 2 shows cross-section AA (exaggerated scale for illustrative purposes) through the figure 1 A4 pocket folder;
Figure 3 shows in plan view, the A4 pocket folder with the additional pockets for storage oftwo CD-ROMS.
Referring to figures 1 and 2, the A4 pocket folder comprises a sheet of transparent plastic material 1, creased along its right edge 2 and folded into half, and welded along the bottom 3 and left edge 4. The top 5 remains open for insertion of the paper or printed material. A semi-circular cut-out 6 is provided for easier removal of the stored sheet or sheets of material. Along the left side holes 7 are punched with spacing to suit a number of different page retraint mechanisms. Where the holes are punched a further strip of plastic material 8 is added to provide additional reinforcement.
Welded 10 to the front face of the folder are four clear plastic pockets 9, each open at its top 11 for the insertion and removal of 3.5 inch micro floppy disks. The pockets have a semi-circular cut-out in the top edge 12 and are positioned on the front of the A4 pocket folder so as to maximise the number of pockets that can be provided whilst still allowing easy insertion and removal.
Figure 3 illustrates the arrangement that provides two pockets 13 for storage of a CD
ROM in each.
Claims (2)
