Abstract

A filing system for business or calling cards (18) comprises a plurality of sheets (12) for filing in a suitable holder. Each sheet has an adhesive zone (14) covered by a peel-off sheet (16) for retaining the business card, and an area in which information can be written relating to the card or its owner. This area can be sub-divided, with different headings. The sheet can be bound into a note book or a desk pad format, or may be provided in a loose form for filing in a ring-binder or a card file. <IMAGE>

Description

FILING SYSTEM FOR BUSINESS CARDS This invention relates to a filing system for business or calling cards.

It is common for professional people to carry business or calling cards which they hand out to people they meet in the course of their business or at social functions. Over a period of time, an individual may accumulate a considerable number of business cards, and will tend to forget the relevant details of the person whose card it is. A convenient filing system would, clearly, be useful in such a case. One system which is available comprises a binder with a number of clear plastic sheets, each sheet defining a number of pockets for receiving cards. This system helps to keep the cards together, but does not provide a convenient way of storing information relating to the owner of the card.

According to the invention, a filing system for business or calling cards comprises a plurality of sheets for filing in a suitable holder, each sheet having a zone thereon which is adapted to retain a business or calling card; each sheet further defining an area in which information relating to the business or calling card or its owner can be written.

The zone for retaining the business or calling card may be an adhesive zone.

Preferably, the adhesive zone is covered by a peel-off sheet prior to use.

The sheets may be punched for filing in a ring-binder, or can be supplied as filing cards.

Alternatively, the sheets may be bound into a book format.

In order that the invention may be more readily understood, it will now be described, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a pictorial view of a filing system for business or calling cards according to the invention; and Figure 2 illustrates an alternative sheet for the filing system of Figure 1.

The figures illustrate a conventional pocketsized ring-binder 10 which accepts a number of punched pages 12.

On each page 12 is an adhesive zone 14 which is covered by a peel-off protective layer 16. When the protective layer 16 is peeled away, a business or calling card 10 can be affixed to the page 12. Instead of a single adhesive zone 14, two or more separate adhesive zones, such as strips, can be provided.

Below the adhesive zone 14 is an area in which information relating to the card or its owner can be written. The area may be sub-divided into smaller areas with headings, such as "date', name", "place met", "notes", or other suitable headings.

It will be appreciated that the described filing system allows information relating to a business card or its owner to be filed conveniently, it being possible to make useful notes or comments on the pages 12. In a ring-binder system, the pages can easily be sorted alphabetically, for ready reference.

The system described above will be compatible with existing note books and personal filing systems.

It is also possible that cards can be provided instead of punched pages, for filing in boxes or cabinets.

It will be appreciated that the sheets of the invention can be of a desired size, to fit a range of holders from pocket diaries to A4 size ring-binders.

In the latter case, several business or calling cards could be retained on one sheet, each sheet defining at least two adhesive zones for retaining cards, and at least two respective areas for writing information on the sheet (See Figure 2). The sheets can be supplied in a loose-leaf or desk pad format with an adhesive layer releasably joining respective edges of the sheets. Another alternative is a book format, such as a spiral-bound note book format.

Claims

Claims:

1. A filing system for business or calling cards comprising a plurality of sheets for filing in a suitable holder, each sheet having a zone thereon which is adapted to retain a business or calling card; each sheet further defining an area in which information relating to the business or calling card or its owner can be written.

2. A. filing system according to claim 1, wherein the zone for retaining the business or calling card is an adhesive zone.

3. A filing system according to claim 2, wherein the adhesive zone is covered by a peel-off sheet prior to use.

4. A filing system according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the area in which information can be written is sub-divided into smaller areas with respective headings.

5. A filing system according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the sheets are punched for filing in a ring-binder.

6. A filing system according to any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein the sheets are cards.

7. A filing system according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the sheets are bound into a book format.

8. A filing system according to any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein the sheets are provided in a desk pad format with an adhesive layer releasably joining respective edges of the sheets.

9. A filing system according to any one of claims 1 to 8, wherein each sheet defines at least two zones for retaining cards and at least two respective areas in which information can be written.
