Abstract

The base 2 of the trolley adjusts in height as goods 7 are placed into it, so that the base, or top of the goods are always at the top of the trolley. The base is supported on springs 3 which contract as extra weight is put upon them. As goods are removed, the springs expand as the weight upon them is decreased, thus forcing the goods still remaining in the trolley upwards, so that the top of the goods is still level with the top of the trolley. When the trolley is empty, the base is once more level with the top of it. <IMAGE>

Description

SELF-LEVELLING SHOPPING TROLLEY The invention relates to a self levelling shopping trolley.
Shopping Trolleys are used in stores to carry goods to the checkout areas. These generally consist of a metal basket on a frame supported by wheels.
The present invention will incorporate a base to the trolley which will rise and lower as goods are placed into, or removed from, the trolley.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 - Shows trolley unloaded Figure 2 - Shows it part loaded/part unloaded Figure 3 - Shows it full Figure 1 Shows base 2 supported by springs 3, unladen and at top of trolley.
Trolley also has frame 4 support goods area 6 with wheels 5 and handle 1.
Figure 2 Shows base 2 part laden/part unladen, with springs 3 forced into contraction due to weight of goods 7. Top of goods is at top of trolley (where base 2 originally was).
Figure 3 Shows base 2 at bottom of trolley with springs 3 fully contracted. Top of goods is at top of trolley (where base 2 was in Figure 1).

Claims (2)

1 A shopping trolley where the base or top of the goods is always at the top of the trolley. This base is supported by springs which keep it stable and allow it to rise and fall with the filling up or emptying of the goods.
2 A pneumatic method could be used instead of the springs.
