Abstract

Roofing.-To protect roofing from the sun in hot climates, one or more subsidiary upper roofs 11 are bolted to the sides and front of the main roof 9 and spaced apart from it and from each other so that the wind has free passage between them. In the form shown in Fig. 3, flat roofing plates 7 are supported by props 5 which are perforated to dissipate heat and have shanks to engage the plates by nuts, wires, or other means. The plates may abut with plain or serrated edges, and may be corrugated, halfround, or of other shape. They may be made of any suitable material, for example, earthenware, wood, metal, concrete, glass, papier mÔchÚ, &c.
