Abstract

A universal radiator release bracket has a fixed to the wall section 10 (Figure 4) and a sliding securing section 12 (Figure 5). The sliding section is activated by means of an adjusting screw (15) and sliding locking screws (13). The adjusting screw (15) is only required when access from the sides are restricted otherwise release and securing are achieved by using locking screws (13). All nuts are captive and the universal radiator release bracket is reversible. <IMAGE>

Description

UNIVERSAL UNIVERSAL RADIATOR RELWE BRACKET Tis IJr'HNTiON RKLATES TO THE UNIVERSAL UNIVERSAL RADIATOR RKLW BRACKET Central heating radiators are usually fixed permanently to walls by means of hooked brackets. When it is necessary to remove central heating radiators, eg. for decoration, repairs/replacement or to renew radiator valves, it always involves the undoing of valve unions and lifting the radiator off the permanently fixed brackets: this invariably risks damage to fixed pipework and flooding damage to flooring. The radiator release bracket replaces the permanently fixed hooked bracket, avoiding the necessity of having to lift the radiator.
According to the present invention, there is provided the means to release a fixed central heating radiator from its fixings, without having to lift the radiator off its brackets. This is achieved by means of releasing a sliding securing section of the permanently fixed radiator release bracket, thereby allowing the central heating radiator to hinge out from the wall on the loosened radiator valve unions which act as swivels.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows in perspective the radiator release bracket in the locked position Figure 2 shows the methods employed to release the sliding section Figure 3 illustrates the radiator release bracket in the open position and the radiator released into its hinged/swivel position Figure 4 shows the component part of the permanently fixed section illustrating the adjusting screw guides and the slide holes for the locking screws plus the holes for fixing to the wall Figure 5 shows the component part of the sliding securing section, the long adjusting screw, the locking screws and the three captive nuts.
Referring to the drawing, the radiator release bracket comprises of a permanently fixed section 10, and a sliding securing section 12, held together by locking screws 13, and captive nuts 14, adjusting screw 15 and captive nut 16.
In order to release the radiator from the radiator release bracket, locking screws 13 are unscrewed and adjusting screws 15 are unscrewed, to allow the sliding securing section 12 to drop from its radiator secure position, allowing for the slackening of the valve unions and the radiator to swivel off the fixed bracket 10, and be lowered to the floor without any resulting damage to pipework or flooding damage.
To refit the radiator the steps above are carried out in the reverse sequence, making sure that adjusting screw 15 is screwed into captive nut 16 until the securing section 12 is in the lockable position, and the locking screws 13 are tightened into captive nuts 14.
The radiator release bracket is designed to be used either left hand side or right hand side. This is achieved by removing adjusting guide 17 and refitting screw 15 through guide 17 and into captive nut 16, at the other end.
If access is restricted at the top of the radiator, the adjusting screw 15 can be removed from the radiator release bracket and discarded, adjustment can then be achieved by slackening the locking screws 13 from captive nuts 14 at the side of the radiator to release or secure the sliding securing section 12.

Claims (7)

1. A universal radiator release bracket comprising a fixed section and a sliding securing section, means for releasing all types of central heating radiators from fixed positions to hinged/swivel position to allow for decoration and repair.
2. A universal radiator release bracket as claimed in Claim 1 wherein a sliding section co-operable with a fixed section to operate by means of an adjusting screw and/or lockable sliding screw.
3. A universal radiator release bracket as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 wherein the sliding securing section can be locked or adjusted/released from the top side or the side areas.
4. A universal radiator release bracket as claimed in Claim 2 or Claim 3 wherein the bracket design enables it to be fitted to the left hand side or the right hand side of all types of central heating radiators.
5. A universal radiator release bracket as claimed in Claim 4 wherein the sliding securing section is locked into position to arrest the movement of a central heating radiator.
6. A universal radiator release bracket as claimed in any preceding claim wherein a sliding securing section is joined to a fixed section.
7. A universal radiator release bracket substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1-5 of the accompanying drawings.
