Description
2289404 1 Rack for telecommunications equipment The invention relates to a
rack for telecommunications equipment, which rack comprises fixing rails on two opposite sides of its upper portion and adjusting rails for the fixing rails, the adjusting rails being positioned at opposite upper corners of, the backside of the rack and provided with nut holes one upon another, the mutual distances of which are evenly divisible with the hole division of the fixing rail.
In previously known racks, extension joints of fixing rails are utilized or the racks are provided with so-called attachment brackets. These structures are primitive and difficult or even impossible to adjust accurately into the right position. In addition, extension joints outside the rack disturb wire layings, for instance.
The object of the present invention is to eliminate the above drawbacks. This is achieved by means of a rack according to the invention, which is characterized in that the adjusting rails are separate members positioned within the rack inside casings, each casing comprising an elongated slot at mounting holes of the fixing rails, and that an adjusting screw is arranged at the upper surf ace of the rack to cooperate with a nut hole at the upper end of the adjusting rail, for fine adjustment of the elevation of the adjusting rail.
The advantage achieved by the invention is that no extension joints are needed for the f ixing rails, attachment brackets f or the rack are unnecessary and the point of attachment to the rack is easy to adjust.
Depending on the mounting height, the extra portion of the f ixing rails runs downwards along the back corners of the inner sides of the rack and does not disturb wire layings, the rails being lockable always 2 9 to the nearest holes of the fixing rails in the abovementioned manner.
In the following, the invention will be explained, by way of example only, in more detail ref erring to the attached drawings, in which Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a rack according to the invention, and Figure 2 shows a section 2 - 2 from Figure 1.
A rack 1 for telecommunications equipments according to the invention comprises fixing rails 2 on two opposite sides of its upper portion and adjusting rails 3 for the fixing rails, the adjusting rails being positioned within the rack 1, at opposite upper corners of the backside of the rack.
The adjusting rails 3 are enclosed in casings 4, each casing comprising an elongated slot 5 at mounting holes 2a of a fixing rail 2, which holes are situated one upon another.
Each adjusting rail 3 is provided with nut holes one upon another at the slot 5, in this example case with holes 6 in the rail 3 and with nuts 7 fixed behind the holes, the mutual distances of the nuts being evenly divisible with the hole division of the fixing rail 2. Additionally, an adjusting screw 8 is each time arranged at the upper surface of the rack 1, i.e. at a horizontally bent tongue la of the backside of the rack, which screw is arranged to cooperate with a back nut 10 via a nut hole at the upper end of the adjusting rail 3, in this case via a hole 9 made in the upper surface of the adjusting rail 3, for fine adjustment of the elevation of the adjusting rail 3.
Accordingly, a fixing rail 2 is attached to the rack 1 by means of an adjusting rail 3. For attachment, the fixing holes 6 and nuts 7, respectively, are initially selected from the adjusting rail 3, by means of 3 which holes and nuts the fixing rail 3 comes closest to the final position. Subsequently, the fixing rails 2 are attached by screws 11 via the slot 5 through the holes 6 to the nuts 7, but are not yet tightened in place. Then the desired final elevation of the fixing rails 3 Is adjusted by means of the adjusting screw 8, and finally, the fixing screws 11 of the fixing rails 3 are tightened.
The invention has been described above by means of one illustrative embodiment of the invention only. However, one skilled in the art can implement details of the invention in alternative manners within the scope of the attached claim.
