Abstract

A computer equipment combination stand has two profiled end panels or frames 10 and 11, rigidly connected together by means of specially located cross members 12, wherein the form of the said profiles and the length and positioning of one or more of the said cross-members, in relationship with the casings of the computer equipment components, cause each of the said computer equipment components to be firmly supported in a desirable configuration for the computer operator's use. <IMAGE>

Description

COMPUTER EQUIPMENT COMBINATION STAND This invention relates to a stand for a combination of several seperate components of computer equipment principally; a keyboard, monitor screen with disc drive unit, and a printer.
Computer equipment stands, desks, tables or platforms are well known items of specialist furniture which are designed to accommodate the various components that comprise a typical computer system neatly and in a convenient configuration for the computer operators' use. There are several different types of such furniture available, some are simply a desk with verious levels of worksurface, some are an arrangement of two or more adjustable 'tables' for the seperate components to stand on, others consist of seperate stands for individual computer equipment components such as printers and the like.
Computer stands, desks, tables or platforms are however relatively expensive items and are generally not designed for low cost or to 'house' specific makes or items of equipment. In many cases these units employ complex construction methods or adjustment mechanisims to hold the computer equipment components at more convenient angles for the operators' use.
According to the present invention there is provided two specially profiled vertical end panels or frames held together by connecting cross-members between them. These cross-members are secured to the end panels or frames by screws, bolts or other suitable means. The equipment housed relies for support upon the 'profile of the end panels or frames and the length and positioning one or more of the connecting cross-members in relation to the computer equipment housed.
The stand also relies upon the shape and rigidity of the computer components themselves in that it is only neccessary to provide support at various suitable points on the equipment rather than the provision of a flat surface for each seperate component of the computer equipment to stand on. The profile of the end panels and the length and positioning of one or more of the connecting crossmembers allow for the seperate computer equipment components to be held firmly in a desirable configuration and at convenient angles for operation.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of an example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 Shows in perspective the stand with the seperate computer equipment components in position on the stand.
Figure 2 Illustrates the stand without the computer equipment components in position.
Figure 3 Shows a section through the stand illustrating the principle of support for the computer equipment components.
lieferring to the drawing the stand comprises two specially profiled end panels 10 and 11 and a number of connecting cross members 12 firmly secured to each of the end panels or frames by, for example 13; bolts, screws, brackets or similar means (screw method only shown). The computer equipment components shown are typically manufactured system components comprising; a printer 14, a combined monitor screen with disc drive unit 15 and a keyboard 16.
The computer equipment components are supported in the stand by means of the profile of the end panels 10 end 11 corresponding with the profile of the computer equipment components casing at each end of the component. Further support may be provided by one or more of the connecting cross-members 12 which are positioned so that where desirable the centre part of the computer equipment casing rests upon the cross-member. The cross-members are of a specific length to hold the profiled end panels or frames in the correct position relative to the computer equipment components casings.

Claims (3)

1 A computer equipment combination stand comprising two specially profiled end panels or frames with a number of connecting cross-members firmly secured at each end to the said end panels or frames thus providing a stable structure which, by means of the specially profiled end panels or frames and their relationship to the profiles of the computer equipment component casings will support and hold the said computer equipment components securely at convenient angles and in a desirable configuration for the computer operators' use.
2 A computer equipment combination stand as claimed in Claim 1, wherein by means of the length and positioning of one or more of the connecting crossmembers between the said end panels and their relationship to the profiles of the computer equipment component casings will support and hold the said computer equipment components securely at convenient angles and in a desirable configuration for the computer operators' use.
3 A computer equipment combination stand as substantially described herein with reference to Figures 1 - 3 of the accompanying drawing.
